The Comedy Central-era Joel crew is definitely the superior post-MST3k troupe.
Although technically Mary Jo Pehl came on board well after Mike Nelson, so she's not really "original cast." But she clearly made the right choice in which faction she went with.

FeeFiFoFoTheFifeFifeBrown - 2009-08-24 That's true. I love the Rifftracks shorts. Some are as good as any of the MST ones. I just wish they'd do more awful old movies like this instead of, well, rifftracks.

Old_Zircon - 2009-08-24 Saw Joel and Trace at MIT last year, they're really good speakers. By far the best team.

Caminante Nocturno - 2009-08-24 I'm just happy the people from MST3K are still doing work.

FeeFiFoFoTheFifeFifeBrown - 2009-08-24 "I've determined that if one started by watching Joel, one prefers Joel. If one started by watching Mike, one prefers Mike."
Um, I started when they first hit Comedy Central and I prefer the one who was NOT a prop comic.
That being said, this is a stupid thing to argue about.

fluffy - 2009-08-24 Yeah I wasn't saying anything about MST3k itself, just the post-MST3k stuff. For the show I liked both groups equally, but for different reasons.
RiffTrax just seems like they're goofy and meme-y and they really need an editor. It's especially bad when they bring in character guests like Chad Vader.
Also, Fee, Mike did plenty of prop comedy too.

fluffy - 2009-08-24 Kevin Murphy is in Rifftrax, but was (I think) the longest-lasting single cast member of MST3k since he was in the show from the second season all the way until the end. (He replaced Josh Weinstein as Tom Servo when Weinstein decided he'd rather do other things, before the show got big.)

Saw these guys at the Paramount Theater in downtown Austin in March of 2009 (this year unless it is not.) Joel even did an Invention Exchange before the movie.
I also got to meet the group and get their autographs too!

fluffy - 2009-08-24 Yeah I saw them do some shitty vampire movie in San Francisco. Completely brilliant in every possible way. (And Joel did an invention exchange too. "The Party in the Pants")
