I was in hog heaven when I got a CH Products yoke along with rudder pedals to play MW2. It's like piloting a real mech, man!

HarrietTubmanPI - 2009-08-28

00.

There was a dual core Dell with a 23" monitor two days ago on the Dell site for under 0.

Ageusiatic - 2009-08-28

In '95, that 0 would have gotten you a pretty sweet stick of RAM.

HarrietTubmanPI - 2009-08-28

Or Lotus 123

ProfessorChaos - 2009-08-28

So, PoEtvers - what mech game should i pick up if i wanted to play one that will run on a 3 year old laptop, and doesn't look like shit?

Jellyneck - 2009-08-28

Mechwarrior 2, duh

Repomancer - 2009-08-28

Mechwarrior 2 -- DUH!

manfred - 2009-08-28

Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries, if you prefer playing the Inner Sphere scum.

Spastic Avenger - 2010-06-14

mechwarrior 3, but you'll be playing as a Stravag :(

Maggot Brain - 2009-08-28

This would be ,239.19 in today's money and worth every penny.

Bebido - 2009-08-28

I forgot which mechwarrior game had it on their instruction manual but to play the game with best possible graphics you had to have at least 100 megs of ram. I believe this option was called hardcore rigs only!

HarrietTubmanPI - 2009-08-28

I don't think it was Mechwarrior 2. In 1995 8 megs of RAM was considered a decent system and only a few people had 16 or even 32 megs.

When I was in high school standards went from 16 megs to 64 megs and by the time I was in my first year of college it was at 128 megs.

Repomancer - 2009-08-28

The lead/senior programmer only had 8 megs of RAM.

garcet71283 - 2009-08-28

Best memory of Mechwarrior 2 was my dad complaining that it took up his entire hard-drive at 70 megs.

FABIO - 2011-03-23

I remember I had to uninstall almost everything on my 40 meg drive to fit Wing Commander 2.

voodoo_pork - 2009-08-28

Wow. Both the hosts and the game have not aged well...

pastorofmuppets - 2009-08-28

It's certainly no Hover!, is it?

Caminante Nocturno - 2009-08-28

Alright, so I'm one of these "robot" things you call a "Mech Warrior".

pastorofmuppets - 2009-08-29

As a representative of my fleshy species I'd like to apologize for our stereotype of you as always being "good warriors". We know that there are more to robots than just scorched earth and plasma weapons.

Xenocide - 2009-08-28

Ha ha! Things in the past were less advanced than things in the present!

Things in the future will also be different than they are now!

Kumquatxop - 2011-01-29

10 years from now people will be remembering how quaint Xenocide was compared to the current one

Ponasty - 2009-08-28

This game was soooo badass.
even on a measly 1000$ computer

chumbucket - 2009-08-28

yeah but can it handle floating point calculation?

memedumpster - 2009-08-28

This game owned, no matter how crappy you had to make the graphics so it would run. You forgot about graphics pretty quickly, especially in multiplayer.

fluffy - 2010-12-03

Built-in MPEG!
