Yes, let's talk about terrible precedence, Mr. Cheney. Let's.

Cena_mark - 2009-09-02

Lets punish him for keeping America safe for 7 years.
This is one of the things that disgusts me about liberals. Picking on Cheney and the CIA for "torturing" a few Islamic goons is no better than criticizing the U.S. Armed Forces for killing Germans in WW2.

This is one of the things that disgusts me about liberals. Picking on Wilhelm II and the German Army for "gassing" a few British goons is no better than criticizing the Wehrmacht for killing Communists in WW2.

RomancingTrain - 2009-09-02

Terrorists only attacked us twice during his administration, if we weren't torturing retarded Arabs who knows how many more times we would have been attacked aside from the two times that we actually we attacked.

Toenails - 2009-09-02

Well sure.

If Allied Forces tortured them while they were P.O.W.s, then yeah, I suppose that would be about the same.

In fact, I'm willing to bet a few Krauts WERE tortured at the hands of the Allies.

And guess what? That's fucking despicable. Enemy combatants deserve better even if they wouldn't return the favor. So to any of the Greatest Generation out there reading this right now that have tortured the Axis during WWII, I hope you get caught and get raped by old people in old people prison.

Toenails - 2009-09-02

@ Romace

Six times. Pentagon, WTC, , WTC again, WTC one more time, U.S.S. Cole, and that African Embassy.

Does running a plane into the Pennsylvania forest count?

Vaidency - 2009-09-02

More American civilians were murdered by foreign extremists when Bush and Cheney were in charge than under any other administration for the last hundred years and the legacy of success they lay claim to is how they kept us safe?

MongoMcMichael - 2009-09-02

Well, he DID keep us safe, except for the whole 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, and Iraq War things. And numerous other things.

TeenerTot - 2009-09-02

Let me explain some of the rage (as I see it anyways).
"Torture" is morally disgusting to enlightened people.
And that is why "torture" is also illegal under international law. So it's immoral (I thought you knew all about morals), and illegal. Already a double whammy for people who choose to defend its use. (I won't go into the debate here about how it doesn't even produce the effects the torturers claim it does.)

So when we see a guy who believes he should be able to do something immoral and illegal, just because he says he can, it really offends those of us who believe in the American values of integrity and justice.

See, in America there (ideally by the law) is no class system. Nobody here is above the law. So when someone claims they are, and for something like double-whammy torture, it's like a TRIPLE whammy. And if we can't even look into maybe applying a little justice to something like that, what does it say about us?

So there you are, Cena. I hope I laid it out simly enough for you to begin to understand.

TeenerTot - 2009-09-02

Addendum: For a guy who believes the leadership should fear the people, you sure are reluctant to hold them accountable.

jangbones - 2009-09-02

I really, really hope he runs for president. His crushing defeat would be one of the very best things that ever happened to America.

But he won't, because he is a coward.

Cena_mark - 2009-09-02

He wouldn't be a very good candidate. He's kind of prickly. But his service to our country should be appreciated.

glasseye - 2009-09-02

No. His damage to our country should be condemned.

Five stars for the pure, unadulterated evil that is Darth Cheney.

Narcanos - 2009-09-02

Well, 9/11 happened on his watch so....

Maybe he wasn't at work that day?

But, I will agree, throughout the whole Bush administration, there was not a single hippo-related fatality. Good work, Mr. Cheney!

I'm sure there will be no negative repercussions to torturing people, who, as Mr. Mark points out, have no value as human beings and who were CERTAINLY all guilty; captured on the best intelligence, and from whom piles of useful information must have been acquired.

Bitter with a side of Rice - 2009-09-02

History will spit on this hateful old monster. I'm only sad that he won't live long enough to see the contempt of the ages that he has so rightly earned.
