There is no purely capitalist society anywhere on the planet, and this is because unadulterated capitalism's objectives are purely selfish. Societies must mirror the nature of man, balancing the need for altruism with the need for selfishness.

However, since I doubt you'll follow the above allow me to provide you with a capitalist rationale for universal health care: Currently Americans are unhealthy and this costs economy in lost work and money spent on health services instead of goods and commodities. By making health care affordable, preventative measures can be taken to treat issues before they become too serious, and therefore allow healthy people to not miss work.

Also, what's funny about your statement is how it rests on the label "socialist," presuming that the reader will adopt you as an authority to label "Bill Moyers" and "socialist," assume then "Bill Moyers" equals "bad." Not to mention you put "socialism" and being "American" as two mutually exclusive states of being. One's nationality and citizenship in this country are not defined by one's political beliefs, and trying to say they are is actually the antithesis to what being "American" is.
