I loved watching reruns of the original Monkees on VH1 in the 1990s as a kid, I'm just glad , I was spared from ever seeing this!

I remember catching part of an episode of The New Monkees as I was channel surfing once. They were doing a kind of New Wave music video in the middle of the show that wasn't trying for laughs but trying to look like cool MTV music video. I remember thinking that the video was cool but wasn't The Monkees supposed to be a zany comedy?

Weird how you can remember 30 seconds of channel surfing 22 years later.

Must have been a cable thing? We only had rabbit ears growing up and as a huge monkees fan and a kid in the 80s i would have been all over this. It still looks better than "HEAD"

Thank you for helping me relive the 8 or so weeks of 1987 that this show was so emblematic of.

I happened upon this one Saturday morning when I was a teen.

Those lips were disgusting as Hell. They always showed them in extreme closeup and every time she spoke, you could see the strands of saliva stretch and break. She also usually had bubbles is spittle in the corners of her mouth.

It wasn't the sort of thing to watch while trying to eat a bowl of cereal.

I remember this. Not actually seeing it, but hearing about it. Generally in the same breath as New Coke or the Apple Lisa.
