I think I am better off not knowing this existed.

revdrew - 2009-09-05

^was, not am.

I loved watching reruns of the original Monkees on VH1 in the 1990s as a kid, I'm just glad , I was spared from ever seeing this!

garcet71283 - 2009-09-05

Must...find...episodes....

garcet71283 - 2009-09-05

Just looked it up...I was alive when this was on...

Camonk - 2009-09-05

You've violated The Monkees. That should not actually be possible. It'd be like if in ten years someone somehow manages to violate Totally Spies.

Rape Van Winkle - 2009-09-05

Thank god for youtube.

All the people who, like me, tried to write this show off as a pre-pubescent fever dream, can comment their shared agony and relief on Poetv.

MrBuddy - 2009-09-05

I remember catching part of an episode of The New Monkees as I was channel surfing once. They were doing a kind of New Wave music video in the middle of the show that wasn't trying for laughs but trying to look like cool MTV music video. I remember thinking that the video was cool but wasn't The Monkees supposed to be a zany comedy?

Weird how you can remember 30 seconds of channel surfing 22 years later.

STARRING REGRETTABLE HAIR

REGRETTABLE HAIR 2

REGRETTABLE FACE

AND THE GAY ONE.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2009-09-05

There wasn't a single frame of this that made any sense to me.

FISTFULLofSOUL - 2009-09-05

The horror..the horror

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2009-09-05

Many Bothans died while viewing this.

phalsebob - 2009-09-05

I have no memory of this whatsoever. It makes me wonder what other greasy-coifed Cthulhan horrors await in the cold dark of the internet.

Syd Midnight - 2009-09-05

I remember that I loathed it, and was very happy that it was canceled after like 4 episodes. Ben Stiller did the only good Monkees parody.

Ponasty - 2009-09-05

Must have been a cable thing? We only had rabbit ears growing up and as a huge monkees fan and a kid in the 80s i would have been all over this. It still looks better than "HEAD"

Hay Belly - 2009-09-05

You just don't get Head.

FISTFULLofSOUL - 2009-09-06

Fuck em' ...they've had enough chances

memedumpster - 2009-09-06

This does make Head seem about twelve levels of magnitude less pretentious than it did. Now I understand how the Monkees could have existential angst. This would do it.

Wait... Head came out before this did. I guess it was just super pretentious after all.

The Townleybomb - 2009-09-05

Thank you for helping me relive the 8 or so weeks of 1987 that this show was so emblematic of.

Binro the Heretic - 2009-09-06

I happened upon this one Saturday morning when I was a teen.

Those lips were disgusting as Hell. They always showed them in extreme closeup and every time she spoke, you could see the strands of saliva stretch and break. She also usually had bubbles is spittle in the corners of her mouth.

It wasn't the sort of thing to watch while trying to eat a bowl of cereal.

Hooper_X - 2009-09-06

I remember this. Not actually seeing it, but hearing about it. Generally in the same breath as New Coke or the Apple Lisa.

memedumpster - 2009-09-06

I am so going to regret this.

What is the Apple Lisa?

Binro the Heretic - 2009-09-06

The Lisa was developed simultaneously alongside the Macintosh and came out before the first Mac. It was targeted more at business users than home users.

Lisa ended up being slightly superior in some ways, but, since it used the previous generation of technology, ended up being bulkier & more expensive. It ultimately flopped.

Imagine an early 1980s Mac with a much smaller screen and two 5 1/4" floppy drives. Someone donated one to our high school yearbook staff, but it gathered dust because we already had two Macs.
