Don't be all passive-aggressive and cowardly like a woman. Be direct and assertive like a man, and just explain 'feminism takes away the ability of men to control and dominate women as written in the Bible, by giving them equal rights.' Everyone watching knows what you mean.

No, I am not and neither are you. The disinigration of traditional western gender roles is occurring because they no longer have a purpose and because it's a lot more fun to be whatever you feel like being rather than falling into lockstep with the roles set up based on the shape of your genitals.

You sort of just agreed with him. Gender roles are no longer necessary in our culture because technology has taken care of some of the biological issues.

First off, I said nothing about women being lazy. You said gender roles "no longer have a purpose". I agree, and my contention is that that is due to advances in technology (IE, there is less work to be "done" on all fronts than there used to be, giving people the ability to choose their roles more freely.) Look at any example of a "feminized male" and ask yourself if that person could have survived in pioneer times. It's technology and infrastructure that have enabled this newfound freedom, not the feminist movement.

My issue was your regarding "laziness" as the antonym of "masculinity." I interpolated that in your view, a man's femininity was directly proportional to his laziness. If we're both talking about the drift towards gender neutrality, then I misunderstood you.

Neither could this supposedly "feminized" women survive in pioneer times. Women did a ridiculous amount of work back then, just as much or possibly even more than men. Your whole idea of "feminized" is purely a product of the Victorian age when industrialization began and started to take over a lot of the jobs women performed in the home(candlemaking, soapmaking, etc) and it became a status symbol to have a woman who just twiddled her thumbs all day. So really, technology itself originally constructed the gender roles as you know it(they sucked before then, but this is gender as you know it).

It's true that industrialization took a lot of women's jobs out of the home and into the factory, but it's also true that before industrialization, men did most of the physical work; farming, fighting, etc. Not to say that men are better at those things, or that those are better or more important jobs, but on average men are bigger and more muscular, simply because they have more testosterone. The fact that very few modern jobs require manual labor means that men have no inherent advantage over women as they did in physical work.

I think that's what QuakeSoldier and William Burns were getting at.

I didn't say that men did most of the physical work in preindustrial society because that is not universally true. I think that a drift away from rural family life and away from religion has as much or more to do with changing gender roles than the types of labor women are doing. Before someone previously relegated to a domestic role can become self-sufficient, they must first recognize the possibility of doing so and live close to a source of revenue.

Of course, the guy in the video isn't self-sufficient either if he doesn't know how to cook, vaccum or change his kid's diapers. His wife obviously doesn't like him enough to iron his shirt, for instance.

I see feminization and stuff and as something that is like taking away from the roles of man and stuff so that like men become emasculated and stuff.
