"Imagine a world where crooked unicorn horns wobble laughingly."

Camonk - 2009-09-09

This reads like a Chomsky sentence

whensaidthemoon - 2009-09-09

"Imagine a world where fat women walk into the waves."

cognitivedissonance - 2009-09-09

Hey. That IS my way of life, muggles.

Johnny Madhouse - 2009-09-11

Shouldn't you be on your wizardputer watching wizardtube in Diagon Alley

Sputum - 2009-09-09

Oh holy shit I remember making fun of this when it was on TV. Who names a song "Tubular Bells"?

Old_Zircon - 2009-09-09

That's actually about the only good thing on here. Probably because it was one guy in a studio playing something like 90 different instruments slightly out of tune in 1971 or 72.

Rudy - 2009-09-09

A man who knows he's just wrote a song brimming with timeless pleasure?

Rovin - 2009-09-09

It's the theme of The Exorcist.

Space Ratcatcher - 2009-09-09

"Tubular Bells" is incredible. Also, I noticed the theme from "Twin Peaks" is on there, as is something by David Byrne. So the music ain't all bad. 'Course, that doesn't mean you should buy some ridiculous compilation off of the tee-vee. Then again, it is "straight from Europe".

Old_Zircon - 2009-09-09

Hergest Ridge (the followup) is even better.

In general, proto-new age music pre 1975 is almost always really good. CF Popol Vuh.

Old_Zircon - 2009-09-09

Angelo Badalamenti was still pretty solid, but David Byrne had some terrible, terrible solo material (and some that was good), so his presence isn't conclusive.

There is also a club remix of the Twin Peaks theme.

Watch this live performance of Tubular Bells 3. FREAKIN' SWEEEEET

Mike Oldfield is pretty much great. Back in college, one of my professors talked about seeing him perform this pretty much solo back in the 70s.

Old_Zircon - 2009-09-11

that may be the least offensive use of chapman stick I've ever seen.

dododge - 2009-09-12

Jarre's Oxygene IV is another good one in the list.

I also agree with Old Zircon that "Hergest Ridge" is a better album. The original "Tubular Bells" is Oldfield's most famous work but it's not nearly his best.

Sa... De MUAH... *ohhahhhahheeee...* OH OH UHOH

Old_Zircon - 2009-09-09

this song will always be inseparable from Boxing Helena in my mind. Which means it will always be funny.

memedumpster - 2009-09-09

I could name most of these songs already.

Randroid - 2009-09-09

I still have this in a box somewhere.

The day that it is opened fire will rain upon the heads of men.

Big Muddy - 2009-09-09

A Razor&Tie unoriginal!

petep - 2009-09-09

oh my

frau_eva - 2009-09-09

Oh God, I got this from WalMart in high school. Still, considering the other popular option at the time was Hanson, I think I was less embarrassing than most of my classmates.

Camonk - 2009-09-09

No, not really. Sorry.

Camonk - 2009-09-09

Thanks to this for reminding me how fucking awful Enigma was, and how much I hated my new agey sister for listening to them constantly.

Caminante Nocturno - 2009-09-09

I always referred to "Return to Innocence" by trying to imitate that yodeling part.

In other words, I never referred to it.

sinuendo - 2009-09-10

SAIL AWAY SAIL AWAY SAIL AWAY

kennydra - 2009-09-14

Oh christ. I kind of wanted this a little bit when I saw it on TV years ago. It had the x files theme and the twin peaks theme on it, and some other stuff that itsn't awful, but still. Thankfully I was not old enough to make such a mistake.

JimL2 - 2009-09-14

This is the sonic equivalent of motel art. If the waveforms from this album were covered in leather, it could be used as a couch in a behavioral therapist's waiting room.

What the hell is going on with all these comments?

The Mothership - 2016-03-13

X-files theme.
