What struck me was the host's assertion that if he got a fact from another member of congress, then it's every bit as true as what these guys are saying. We're not living in a real world with real facts, but a world in which opinion is all and all statements have equal weight. This is what all of journalism has become, but we don't always get it stated so clearly.
If only there was some way to independently verify stuff that is said instead of just immediately rolling the talking points that agree with what you want into an argument

Why all this crying over the possibility that insurance companies could lose money? There was a lot of shit like this when Ontario banned smoking in public spaces; whining about how the tobacco industry will be hurt. Boo fucking hoo.
