Why do you hate America?

Gojira1000 - 2009-10-03

Because approximately 150,000,000 people in it are insane, grasping, ignorant, soulless fucks.

Or extremely uncreative trolls.

I just read a lovely diatribe on a local media site - a reader posted a long screed about how Rio should never have gotten the games because that's where the Nazis hid after WWII, and how Argentina was going to soon be full of ACORN criminals fleeing justice, so why should they get the Olympics?

splatterbabble - 2009-10-03

Don't worry, Mark Sanford (R) will sniff out the Argentinian baddies.

Desidiosus - 2009-10-03

Conservatives hate anything to do with Obama. I was surprised they didn't come out with a campaign in support of flies when he smacked one.

jangbones - 2009-10-03

thus the tag

Cena_mark - 2009-10-03

I'll admit it. I was against Chicago getting the Olympics so Obama would fail.
But If GWB tried to bring the Olympics to Texas during his presidency you know he would have received similar hate from MSNBC.

jangbones - 2009-10-03

First of all, that's bullshit.

Second off, even if it was not bullshit, equivalency is no excuse for anti-American behavior.

Third, I'm not posting this to you per se, because you are a troll. I am posting this to anyone who might sincerely be tempted to think this way.

splatterbabble - 2009-10-03

I thought MSNBC was the Hitler Youth to Fox News's Schutzstaffel.

Godwin says Hi.

Cena_mark - 2009-10-03

Jangboners: I wouldn't call my behavior anti-American, because Obama is bad for America, so Cheering his failures is pro-American.

Hooker - 2009-10-03

The captain of this boat we are on is an idiot. Let us sink the boat!

Riskbreaker - 2009-10-03

If Obama said that eating broken glass is not cool, would anti-obama people eat broken glass just to "piss him off"? I have a feeling the answer is yes.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2009-10-03

"I'll admit it. I was against Chicago getting the Olympics so Obama would fail."

Gee, if someone you'd tag as a "liberal" had said something like that about Bush, they'd have been called "anti-American" and someone who "wanted America to fail," followed by claims that you were sympathetic to Islamofacists and wanted Bin Laden to take over the world.

Good thing you're not surrounded by people as out of their minds as that, isn't it?

Cena_mark - 2009-10-03

Hooker: If the Captain of the boat is an idiot you don't sink the boat. You get a new captain, and in 2012 we will get a new captain. But at the moment its nice to see him lose some influence, cause that can help there to be a new captain in 2012. The Olympics were nothing more to Obama than a feather in his cap.

Stopheles - 2009-10-03

I'd rather have a President who considers the concept of America getting the Olympics to be a 'feather in his cap' than a President who considers the successful demolition of the World Trade Center by terrorists to be a feather in his.

Desidiosus - 2009-10-04

Cena, realistically, without my usual liberal bias, you will not get your new captain in 2012. 2016, maybe. But 2012 is too soon. Your party will still be running wingnuts and they'll still scare off the moderates.

Rum Revenge - 2009-10-03

Why do old white men who've never won an election think they know how to run a country?

I miss the good ol' days when people like that were confined to screened porches and whittling.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2009-10-03

I think conservatives don't like anything that had its origins involve naked, oily men.

That said, hosting the Olympics seems to be a royal PITA. Do they ever turn a profit for the areas they're hosted in, or is it more a prestige thing?

Gojira1000 - 2009-10-03

Presitge, plus a nift-O training center that doesn't support itself when you're done, in most cases.

Rum Revenge - 2009-10-03

Yeah, I was speaking to a friend of a friend who was volunteering in Chicago. She talked about how the mayor was basically dangling blank checks (at taxpayer expense) in front of everyone to get them on board this Olympics thing - when the only money it could be expected to make is a spike in tourism.

Dicknuts - 2009-10-03

Then how do you explain their affinity for professional wrestling?

jangbones - 2009-10-03

China benefitted greatly from the Olympics.

We'll never really know how it affected them economically, but it was a boon to them in many other ways.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2009-10-03

@ Dicknuts: They can claim they're watching it for the "Divas."

Camonk - 2009-10-03

I imagine an alternate reality where Obama did nothing to get the Olympics here, and that beardo calls NOT trying to get the Olympics in the US the worst outrage etc etc

Also, in that world, women can't wear shirts. So it's better.

Also, also. Good to see Dennis Miller is still crazy.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2009-10-03

Dennis Miller was almost unrecognizable in that clip, apart from his shrill voice.

Caminante Nocturno - 2009-10-03

It really is nice to have a mature adult in the White House.

Hey, does anyone remember when Dennis Miller wasn't a human tragicomedy?

splatterbabble - 2009-10-03

That was back when Sam Kinison was alive, right?

Camonk - 2009-10-03

Miller went permanently insane from 9/11. Much like Giuliani.

cognitivedissonance - 2009-10-03

To be fair, it's a hell of a lot of tax money going to the four weeks of television every four years in which we all get some really good reading in.

But on the plus side, we'll get some really hilarious "COCA COLA = WORLD PEACE AND HUMAN ENLIGHTENMENT" commercials, which are always a hoot.

Toenails - 2009-10-03

Don't forget the "MCDONALDS = OLYMPIC DRIVE AND ATHLETIC IDEAL" commercials.

StanleyPain - 2009-10-03

I personally don't care about the Olympics, I don't think the money it would bring in would match the massive expenditure, but the overall neo-con reaction is amusing.

However, not as amusing as so many of them openingly wishing for terrorist attacks just because OBAMA.

kelpfoot - 2009-10-03

"Now in Chicago what we're gonna have is gangster politics that will make Al Kapone so happy we are going this is the biggest outrage ever done the President of the United States."

That was amazing.

Man Who Fights Like Woman - 2009-10-03

Why are you so glad to see America fail, FOX News?

Timothy A. Bear - 2009-10-03

These guys would shoot through Martha Washington to hit Obama.

Camonk - 2009-10-03

Kill a woman AND a nigger with one shot? We'd never hear the end of it.

HankFinch - 2009-10-04

Kill a WHO? AND a nigger with one shot?

You sexist bastard.

DK1987 - 2009-10-03

Fox News is bullshit and is just making a big deal out of this to make Obama look bad.
That said, I know alot of people from Chicago, and I can tell you more people than you might think were against the Olympics due to tax hikes and the mayor trying to ignore the real problems in the city.

memedumpster - 2009-10-03

I imagine it will be like when we had the wind storm that knocked out power to 200,000 people, but because the PGA tour was in town they got priority, meaning nursing homes went without power for weeks so the golf fucks could have cold margaritas.

The Olympics may as well just be in Baghdad.

phalsebob - 2009-10-04

Any guess as to what the worst outrage in presidential history will be next week?
