Does anyone know who wrote and sung the song.

Big Beef Burritos Supreme - 2009-10-10

It's by the Masters of Reality, and sung by Chris Goss.

And no, it's not on any albums. I just checked.

Since you asked, Steve Mellor wrote it.

Dinkin Flicka - 2009-10-10

I would've guessed Donovan wrote it before looking it up.

splatterbabble - 2009-10-10

Was this a Bob Camp or John Kricfalusi episode?

giygusattack - 2009-10-10

This was a fairly later episode, so likely a Camp.

splatterbabble - 2009-10-10

I was thinking it was a later episode, but it was weird enough to be a John K one. Bob Camp's were pretty droll in comparison.

Ren & Stimpy actually had some of its weirdest episodes after John K. left. John K. had lots of rules about story structure so after he left they made some really stream of consciousness ones. They got a lot darker in their humor too. Check out Bob Camp's nightmarish "Scotsman in Space" cartoon.

I find Kricfalusi overrated.

Yes, he is good, but he needs to be somewhat reined in or he hammers a gag into the ground.

You don't need to spend a full three minutes showing a close-up of a character's face while their eyes move back and forth accompanied by random sound effects.

Eyes move left - (sound of breaking glass)
Eyes move right - (sound of turd falling into toilet)
Eyes move left - (sound of alarm clock)
Eyes move right - (sound of wolf howling)
Eyes move left - (sound of celery crunching)

And so on and so forth.

On the matter of wacky sound effects in Ren and Stimpy, it should be noted that Nickelodeon execs would edit the cartoons AFTER they had already hit the air, because Kricfalusi was so chronically late and procrastinating about everything, which is actually his fundamental character flaw, upon which is egomania and persecution complex hangs. As I recall, watching the first season as a kid, I was always rather struck by how silent everything was, especially when the public domain drop music was playing.

The adding in of inappropriate sound effects and weirdly editted pauses and jump cuts was one of the major bones of contention that led to Kricfalusi leaving the show.

I think, as a child with aspirations of being a cartoonist myself, I did identify what Kricfalusi was doing RIGHT, despite being completely aware of what he was doing wrong.

If you ever get a chance to sit down with the man face to face, be prepared to stare into the Abyss. His eyes are unbelievably hollow and dead. It's eerie.

-1 star because in the english version, the voice coming from Stimpy's naval was that of Gilbert Gottfreid.

Rum Revenge - 2009-10-11

That voice would possibly tempt me to watch this video again.

As is, my childhood horror is still holding me back.
