Alternate ending: he tries to read it and decides he's been approaching this thing all wrong.

Philosophical quandry: is this more weird than Denzel in a time travel plot involving Val Kilmer and Jim Caveziel? Or less weird?

* quandry: (n) a foundry that makes quandaries

The bible gives him super fighting powers? What? I have no idea whether to give this five stars or one star.

What?

Also, I never want to see another movie with those supershort slow motion closeups of a flying projectile or fist. That special effect was cool until I saw it twice.

Hey maybe it will end where Denzel is trying to keep the book away from people because religion is dangerous and and and... not some sort of... apologetic thing about religion being bad only when bad people get their hands on a bible..... right? maybe?

Sounds like Just a Pilgrim to me

Oh boy.

So I hear the screenplay for this was written by an ex-PC Gamer writer who has a fetish of wearing pants with smeared in them. That right there warrants 5 stars.

WITH WHAT SMEARED IN THEM?!

memedumpster - 2009-11-12

If it had been any other book, ever, I would have a desire to see this movie. If the apocalypse ever actually hits, and I survive that, I am burning every Bible I see for the rest of my life, just because of this trailer.

Why couldn't he have been protecting Garfield Chews the Fat or something?

These are the best books ever.

You'll note that Twilight is a better book than Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, while the Book of Mormon is better than the Bible. Also, Jane Austen matters. Memoirs of a Geisha beat Grapes of Wrath by a nose. On the Road is probably going to get voted off the island soon.

Also, for comparison, here are the worst books:

Stephanie Meyer must be doing something right to be so loved and hated. When I was young we had Fear Street and Goosebumps and Animorphs and I had sort of figured Twilight was like that. But if she's simultaneously better than Dostoevsky and worse than Ann Coulter than maybe I'd better get my vamp on soon.
