Comments about dumbing down video games for a more whiny generation aside, for some reason the long legged walky things make me happy.

garcet71283 - 2009-11-15

Not so much about the dumbing down as it is about the removal of the need for any social interaction whatsoever.

FABIO - 2009-11-15

All the social retards who would rather just skip a frustrating part of a video game instead of spending hours or days getting past it. What?

Admit it, you all would have used this on Battletoads' racing levels.

Xenocide - 2009-11-15

Wait, do you know what this game is? How it's practically built around four-player co-op? This is the last damn game in the universe that removes the need for social interaction. Especially since you can't take it online. It basically forces you to bring some friends over if you're going to get the most out of it.

I really fail to see how cheat codes equal social interaction, since that's what this basically is: a cheat code that isn't hidden. And somehow cheats haven't destroyed video games despite having been around for the past quarter-century, so I doubt this particular one is going to do it.

Xenocide - 2009-11-15

PS: This video fails to mention that you need to die eight times in the same stage and navigate a series "ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO DO THIS?" menus before you can turn on the Super Guide.

memedumpster - 2009-11-15

So yeah, the long legged walky things make me happy.

minimalist - 2009-11-15

Me too but only because they remind me of this:

At age 30, I want every videogame to come with a stop-wasting-my-time mode. I played one of those Lego games with my 4 year old cousin and he had to tell me what to do next.

garcet71283 - 2009-11-15

Anyone who actually bothered to research this game will know that the the "co-op" is basically a 4 player griefing system.

So its awesome.

Chip - 2009-11-19

This feature exists entirely to shame you. You die 8 times, you get offered retard mode. It's definitely incentive to play better.

Multiplayer in this game is hilariously useless. Garcet's got it right.

FRANTIC ACTION FEELING

voodoo_pork - 2009-11-15

Since when are the standard levels for Mario games that fucking difficult anymore?

Maybe Purple Coin Luigi Challenge on Galaxy.

5 stars for evil, not because I approve of this bullshit.

cognitivedissonance - 2009-11-15

Super Mario Funshine pachinko level.

Xenocide - 2009-11-15

Since people started accusing the Wii of being for casual players and little babies.

Miyamoto made Lost Levels; don't think he's not capable of breaking you anytime he wants to. You want something hardcore? OH YOU GOT IT BITCH.

voodoo_pork - 2009-11-15

I miss the hardcore Mario game.

...

Wow, that came out weird.

splatterbabble - 2009-11-15

I only needed the first ten seconds of this clip. Otherwise it's just advertising for the game.

infinite zest - 2009-11-15

Wait.. does this just SHOW you how to beat it or does it actually CLEAR the stage for you and move you forward?

The God of Biscuits - 2009-11-16

"What separates Super Guide from traditional video-based playthroughs of game levels is that the player can assume control during the Luigi run. At any moment, the player can press a button and cancel the computer control of Luigi. An indicator showing that that game is in Super Guide mode stays on screen, and the player assumes control of Luigi, rather than switching to Mario. But the breakthrough in the feature is that the player is not starting the level from the beginning. They are taking control in the midst of the Super Guide run. Thanks to this, players who repeatedly struggle with a tough part of a level in New Super Mario Bros. Wii will be able to let Super Guide Luigi get past that tough part for them. Even though a player takes over as Luigi using this help system, the completion of the level counts and they can play deeper into the game."
