When I was in 5th grade I refused to go to music class, when we went once a week, because the female music teacher was sexist, favoring the girls whenever there was a chance to: girls left before for boys, chose instruments first, called on girls first, only chastised the boys.

So is any construct. Knowledge sort of requires people to be taught biases, if only temporarily, in order to gain understanding. This is only a problem if absent from the child's education is critical thinking skill sets.

Other constructs don't necessarily involve ideology and indoctrination thereof.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thinks the idea of a "pledge" is nonsense. It's even funnier if you read about its history.

Even beyond that, it was written by a Christian socialist in 1892 in order to bring about greater American nationalism.

I always figured the first line was there to be poetic, but there can be no doubt that pledging allegiance, not just in general but specifically to a *flag* is wholly un-American.

That said, where's the news coverage for his compatriots who chose to protest by giving it the old "I pledge ableebance to the fart" treatment?
