I reckon its one of the few worthwhile TV shows to have ever existed (see also: 'Planet Earth')
But not everyone has to like it. Its just an entertainment product.
While it explores socio-economic-political stuff, a lot of the running time is just drama / the characters interacting. Which I could understand people finding boring.
