This decade was a crying baby in a party hat covered in confetti? Sounds about right?

mouser - 2009-11-28

Plus unseen details in the diaper.

baleen - 2009-11-28

This was essentially an ad for the RED One camera (watch the making of video), and I have no idea why. Maybe they're saying that the RED One is the best thing to come out of the past 10 years. I guess that's fair. It's a really nice camera.

Mike Tyson?! - 2009-11-28

I was just reading about the RED One last night, neat!

kingarthur - 2009-11-28

I agree with this summation of the 00s.

Doctor Arcane - 2009-11-28

You know, I'm going to have to agree with this assessment. Everything from war to the economy to popular music, this decade blew. Even the fashion, which was looking promising at first had to go all emo and start wearing girl pants. Fuck the 00s.

poorwill - 2009-11-28

I kinds like the scenester/hipster fashion - on girls. Guys just look annoying. Other than that, yeah, shitty decade for pretty much everything. Interested to see how the recession will improve creativity - I think the next decade is gonna be a lot better.

Doctor Arcane - 2009-11-28

Yeah the girls do look pretty hot. And at least we did away with wallet chains, black jeans and raver-flood-pants of the 90s.

Rape Van Winkle - 2009-11-28

The only negative thing about them skinny jeans and long hairs is how often they cause me to check out teenage boys.

tamago - 2009-11-30

That is a profoundly disturbing comment coming from someone with a name like Rape Van Winkle.

Bort - 2009-11-28

The article isn't too bad, but in trying to push its main premise ("the 00s were basically a product of previous decades") and not point fingers, it ignores the elephant in the room. For example, it's all well and good to say that Clinton didn't try hard enough to kill bin Laden, but at least he didn't neglect anti-terrorism to the point of ignoring memos hand-delivered to him.

Even then, the notion that Clinton didn't try hard enough ... well we sent an entire army into Afghanistan, and as far as we know even that's not enough to kill bin Laden, so it's unclear what Clinton should have done differently.

Five stars for the creepy baby.

James Woods - 2009-11-28

Exactly. What was the common denominator for the majority of this decade? Hmmm. Maybe some mismanagement somewhere? Like, in real time. A place on the planet that holds the responsibility of being a major linchpin in the world? I mean, granted American's felt it, but the rest of the world felt your feverish tantrum by proximity and we're fucking relieved that you-know-who, and the brains behind him are gone. Sorry mostly gone, some of them still pop up and whimper to build their army of hate behind them. So no law can touch them without the threat of mental retards rising up and making things explode. So keep the man in the white house alive buy keeping rich pricks and insane youtubers away from him so he can put all of the lurking fascism in your country to rest, buy reminding America why it was the phenomenon it once was, where people flocked to put there best foot forward to make America a working force for ingenuity and human prosperity. So now, fix California and let's fucking move into 2010 because it's going to be fucking amazing. Jest let it simmer. They'll be exhausted by 2012.

Xenocide - 2009-11-28

The direct correlation between this being "The decade from hell" and "The Bush decade" is obvious to all sapient beings, yet every news outlet is tripping over itself to avoid saying it.

How about we rename this "The decade of the spineless pussy news media that forgot how to do its job and thus was partially culpable for the spectacular failures of leadership which led to our current pathetic state?" Or is that not catchy enough?

James Woods - 2009-11-28

That headline would actually convince me to stop and read a newspaper.

James Woods - 2009-11-28

I gave a theory that the Spider-man movies were all written and produced to educate george bush.

splatterbabble - 2009-11-28

For some reason I can't get to time.com from my work computer (probably a firewall) so I'll reserve stars for when I get home.

I did a youtube search, though, and found this:

I thought it was pretty cool.

The Townleybomb - 2009-11-28

If the media spent more time upsetting children, maybe they wouldn't be losing circulation as fast as they are.

sosage - 2009-11-28

I just want everything to become Blade Runner...with cool flying cars, neon lights and robots. No wonder that baby is crying. Where the fuck is this shit?

Caminante Nocturno - 2009-11-28

A lot of people owe a lot of other people a lot of apologies for this decade.

Nikon - 2009-11-28

This.

sosage - 2009-11-28

I wasted my stars. Can I transfer them to you?

theSnake - 2009-11-29

Don't hold your breath.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2009-11-29

Jeff Fries - 2009-12-01

I have to say I was a big fan of this decade. I liked the fashions (even if they were derivative), the music, the hairstyles; in my mind it was superior to the preceding decade in every way. My favorite part was how it caused certain groups of people to make massive public fools of themselves and yet somehow shut up Chris Rock in the bargain.

CornOnTheCabre - 2013-01-08

Same here. It also had the incredible advantage of not being the '80s or the '90s (note: the people who think these were in any way better than the '00s are almost assuredly instrumental to this past decade sucking as bad as it did)

Vicious - 2011-04-23

The 60s were worse in damn near every aspect, pants-wetters.
