They are really beautiful but I am sad that they didn't make off with the one or two of the children, bringing back to their nests filled with hungry baby eagles.
Man, I don't think I'd ever have imagined that eagles would just let humans tromp around so closely next to them. Plus they have a pretty incredible cry.
But yeah this video would've been better without the kids in it harassing the eagles.
He's not kidding when he says that's crazy, eagles don't like people.
There's a spot on the Columbia river between Oregon and Washington where the river gets nearly 2 miles wide. Using my canoe, we managed to get to an island were there were bald eagles. Even though we were at the water level in a slow moving, muscle powered boat and they were a hundred feet up in the trees, the eagles still flew off when we get with in 50 yards of them.
I love this clip a whole ton. The majestic soaring creatures ... totally failing to majestically soar. The instantly likeable cameraman counting them to the tune of the sesame street pinball cartoon. The enthusiasm of the kids. The little girl scratching her ass. Five stars, favourited.
There's a town not far from where I am right now (northern Utah) where the eagles are thick like this. There are big trees by a bend in the (Bear) river where they hang out to kill the fish (housepets, etc.). It's in a cemetery so the photo ops are monumental; you can count on seeing fifty birds anytime you go.
