Wow Billy just refused to defend himself. I thought we could have made a much stronger case.

They manage to use over nine minutes to say absolutely nothing.

pastorofmuppets - 2009-12-02

It's in 5 parts. It gets pretty heated at points. There's a lot of talk about Billy West setting back the industry and how in WWII he'd be manning the ovens.

pastorofmuppets - 2009-12-02

I didn't submit it, btw, that one is a mystery for the ages.

Fuck John K.

The reason he got shit-canned from Ren & Stimpy was because he wanted to introduce more adult themes into a cartoon that had originally been about booger and fart jokes. He wanted more sex and violence. It's like he totally forgot he'd sold his idea to a TV NETWORK FOR CHILDREN. Also, he kept missing deadlines. Is that what he meant when he said he was "producing too fast"?

Kricfalusi can be brilliant, but he's so hung up on his "I'm an ARTIST, man!" kick, he thinks everything he does is brilliant which is how we end up with utter shit like that God-damned Ranger Smith cartoon [adult swim] kept trying to shove down our throats.

He needs to be locked in a room with Jhonen Vasquez. They will either produce the most awesome cartoon ever...or kill each other. Either way, WE WIN!

Riskbreaker - 2009-12-03

The most glaring evidence of John K's ego is the comeback he made for Ren & Stimpy in, i think it was 2003 or so. It was basically just a bunch of really bad gay jokes put together. Sure, there was a gay context in the original show, but it was always subtle. Not a gag-fest of two guys rubbing each other while saying stupid shit.

cognitivedissonance - 2009-12-03

While both Jhonen and John are micromanagers, Jhonen's particular problem was in hiring his buddies to do everything, while John's problem was his deeply delusional megalomania. Jhonen's problem is actually being TOO nice.

Interestingly, Billy West also has a problem with Jhonen Vasquez, as Zim was originally offered to him. Jhonen pissed Billy off by insisting on line-readings, which is apparently taboo in the upper echelons of voice-dom where Billy presides.

cognitivedissonance - 2009-12-03

Also, Jhonen brings with him genuinely intolerable and odious fans, which was another problem.

Riskbreaker - 2009-12-03

Say what you want about Jhonen, the guy seems to be more aware of what he's doing, and has a better sense of humour. For John K everything is either a gay joke or something regarding sex and shit.

mashedtater - 2009-12-03

aww cognitivedissonance, not all of us. although....

i spent a good hunk of thanksgiving talking to a 15 year old who didnt so much talk..where more just recited lines from the show.

i like invader zim but that was pretty terrible.

Sudan no1 - 2009-12-03

it's like deviantart drama brought to life.

theSnake - 2009-12-03

I listened to all parts, and Billy West really gets shat on a lot be everyone. John K whatever has an assistant there to cheerlead for him the whole time while Howard takes shots.

Also Billy West's real voice is apparently Fry, which makes the entire thing hilarious.

joffe b - 2009-12-03

5 stars for John K being called a "hippie" and Ren and Stimpy called "minimal" which probably pissed him off for MONTHS

punch drunk babies - 2009-12-03

Can't help but picture the assistant as a young Joey Lauren Adams

MrBuddy - 2009-12-03

So Stern goads them for 20 minutes into fighting with each other, then at the end says, "Let's all be friends"? Is the show always like this?

AgentOrange - 2009-12-04

Howard Stern is a piece of shit. And so is this bit.
