One can't divorce this aspect from the reasonableness of their action, ie: safety reasons. A letter to the editor of the NY Times, fliers around the neighborhood, a blog, would have done fine. A video of the reclaiming-the-bike-lane act is a little unwarranted.

Zatojones - it's a goddamn public street. I don't care what you want your neighborhood to look like. Your street leads to other streets, people must occasionally travel down it. Some of these people are on bikes and there is little reason to make them less safe for the sake of ascetics.
