Not really worth watching past the first half, but your life is not complete until you have learned why everyone wants to Catch-a-Riiiiiiide with th' Scooterman.

the day this puppy hits , daddy is takin' his hard earned clams down to d'ole steam-vidja games store and pickin' myself up'a copy this!

Camonk - 2010-01-10

Whoever called this the Saints Row of FPSs hit the nail on the noggin.

Hooker - 2010-01-11

Borderlands, while good, is nowhere near Saints Row 2.

oddeye - 2010-01-11

I called it that in a video I submitted a while back. While I appreciate that you think I hit the nail on the head with my comparison you also don't like Deus Ex so it is very hard to give any value to your opinion.

Also the game isn't AS GOOD AS SR2 but it is to FPS/RPG hybrids what SR2 is to sandbox crime games.

Camonk - 2010-01-11

But to be fair to Borderlands, virtually nothing is as good as Saints Row 2.

Camonk - 2010-01-11

Also, it's not my fault that Deus Ex was bad and I'm one of like three people who noticed it. You had to go through the whole rigmarole to change your freaking weapon, just to use an integral grenade launcher. What the fuck?

Cleaner82 - 2010-01-11

You bastard!!! Deus Ex is not about asgfvglkja I can't do it. Those Bayonetta guys took it all out of me.

While this game had its moments, I really don't get why it's getting on so many "best of" lists.

It's obvious they didn't want to bother animating mouths on more than half of the people in the world, giving them Fallout-style medical masks instead. The end creature is just a run-of-the-mill "spot the moving weak spot" mini-game, the woman who is supposed to be the Crimson Lance's "Darth Vader" has about three seconds of screen time before she gets impaled, and whoever thought up the Claptrap robots as funny/clever is probably the person everyone in the office avoids, especially if they have a vagina. Then they also couldn't be arsed to record dialogue that changed with events or even had decent variation.

So I guess gameplay is what's selling it, because it sure isn't the plot, script, or characters.

Merzbau - 2010-01-11

Absolutely it's the gameplay. I think I'm about halfway through (just hit the Rust Commons) and while none of the characters besides Scooter have made an impression on me at all, I keep loading the game for a quick half-hour session and finding it's like three in the morning. Especially now that the game's gotten properly Diablo-like, with the addition of class mods and actually worthwhile weapons in the shops.

Camonk - 2010-01-11

The shooting and looting are great, and are better with at least one friend. Plus, the writing on The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned is pretty good.

Candlejackv616 - 2010-01-11

I agree anything involving doctor Ned was pretty funny. Plus I'm a fan of cheap ways of disguising a character as something else. I'm surprised he didn't just hold a fucking comb under his nose and called that a disguise.

lovely mix of midwest/southern drawl with an gentle sprinkling of Balt-y-more linguistics.
