I'm pretty sure that almost everyone in the room during Palin's tea party speech realized their movement, their party, their politics and pretty much everything they espouse is stupid and wrong. But they can't just admit that. They have to keep acting like nothings changed.

FABIO - 2010-02-13 First universal rule of conservatism: never, ever, under any circumstance, ever admit you were wrong about anything ever.
|
|
pastorofmuppets - 2010-02-13 By that I mean "don't ever admit that you're wrong, even when it's important that you should"
|
HP Lovesauce - 2010-02-13 that's the thing thought isn't it? it's not 'if' they're lying to you, but 'how'. allegiance goes to the party that least insults your intelligence.

Conservatives are everything Frank Zappa said they were in the 80's.

It kind of turned into one of those Family Guy jokes where they beat off a dead horse, hoping you'll eventually giggle in an awkward way.

The news isn't that Republicans are hypocritical obstructionist douchebags, but that democrats keep going along with them, trying to appease them (as she makes painfully obvious). Who was it that kept saying that appeasement never works? Was it W. Bush? Wisest words he ever sputtered.

She's right, of course. And even in my own personal life it's frustrating to hear people say with one side of their mouth that this government did nothing to stimulate the economy and with the other that too much was spent doing that.
But if she thinks Democrats don't get punished for voting against party lines, she's nuts. It's a two-party system; that's how they work.

Ha! The first article on his homepage is him bragging about how he's trying to prevent the Navy from retiring old ships. What a big dog.
I blame ratings. Outrage, conspiracy, cowboy presidents...all good for ratings. And appearance is everything. Kerry is basically Santa Claus on a motorcycle, but all we heard while he ran was that he shot a kid in the back. Because people are assholes, and the mere mention of something scandalous, apart from any evidence or any witnesses who agreed, is more entertaining than any number of war medals.
