I want to see this technology implemented into a FPS using the DSi as a little window to "look around" the virtual world as opposed to looking inside a tiny little box.
Multiple reasons why this sucks:
1) TFT screens lack the viewing angle to make the immersion work (OLED, not that expensive to implement any more, would fix this for a large part)
2) The more you tilt your screen, the less you see.
3) You have to keep your gaming device at the same general angle while playing, which is not very comfortable.
Lets add to that the fact that you basically have no fingers/hands readily free, if you're going to do this. The only use I can see for this is porn-games.
It uses the cameras to orient itself and register movement. I don't think the DSi even has an accelerometer. It might, but it isn't being used here. You can hold it at any angle you want as long as the camera isn't pointing at a featureless abyss, I assume.
I'm just excited that someone is at least trying to creatively use a pretty retarded and superfluous feature.
It's a neat little gimmick. Also I see no reason why you couldn't do this with the horizontal orientation of the DS with your fingers comfortably on the buttons, but I don't know.
