Jesus, they even gave the chair cocaine

One of my earliest childhood memories :(
Wiki sez: Micky Dolenz (yes, that one) bought the rights and produced the series - he even directed some of the early episodes. INTERESTING.

Corman's Inferno - 2010-03-06

I read this before I watched the video. I was half-hoping it was some sort of "My Mother The Car" scenario where Mickey's brain was imprisoned in a disco-singing robot for multiple counts of impersonating Jimmy Durante. The reality was much more depressing.

If you're interested, the following video contains a very awkward interview with Dolenz, his face collapsing in on itself, staring rapturously into space and humming as he describes how Metal Mickey was the greatest technological and artistic achievement he's ever been involved with.

Really? But what about the HANG-IT-ALL?

“The year was 1984, and I had just moved into a stately Georgian manor situated in the English countryside not far from Sherwood Forest – home of the legendary Robin Hood. One day, I decided to hang the stack of gold records that I’d received for my work with The Monkees. I had quite a few of them and wanted to hang them all in a straight line down a hallway. But as I started to line them up I noticed that each of them was in a slightly different frame with a slightly different length of wire on the back. And that’s where my troubles started. I went through the standard measuring/calculating/marking process and got the first one up okay. But when I tried to hang the others in the same line I ended up with so many misplaced holes, the wall looked like Swiss Cheese!”

This is one of the most degrading things I've ever seen. For both the actors, and the audience.

FISTFULLofSOUL - 2010-03-06

The 1p Metal Mickey sweets were like eating batteries.

revdrew - 2010-03-06

That sounds appropriate.

FISTFULLofSOUL - 2010-03-12

*rimshot*

notascientist - 2010-03-06

The robot show substantially less popular with pedos.

Robert DeNegro - 2010-03-06

I Heart daft punk!

dementomstie - 2010-03-06

I doubt that robot weighs half a ton.

RomancingTrain - 2010-03-06

Oh no, Grandpa had a stroke. Everybody dance now!

Hooper_X - 2010-03-06

So many high waisted jeans.

COSMIC ZONE.

HankFinch - 2010-03-06

At 2:45 I hear something completely different than the "boogie boogie" after. Am I wrong?

Camonk - 2010-03-06

I don't think you're wrong, but I damn hell ain't rewinding to find out.

rustedmutt - 2010-03-06

Watching this at stupid-o-clock this morning with a tooth-abscess-fueled fever was not a good idea.

nemeses9 - 2010-03-06

This is...the most awful thing I've ever seen.

The audience applauds and laughter is cringe inducing.

memedumpster - 2010-03-06

Five stars and I haven't even hit play yet.

Be sure to watch until the end. The last minute or so gets really creepy really fast.

Hooper_X - 2010-03-06

Imagine a robot dancing on a grumpy old man's face... forever.

snothouse - 2010-03-06

"When the Whistle Blows" with robots.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2010-03-07

Good thing this shit never made it across to our side of the pond.

Syd Midnight - 2010-03-08

Yeah I just skipped to about 3:30 and 5 stars
