Well, it could have been worse. They could have been kept in school and raped by priests.

facek - 2010-03-14

I had no idea the Catholic Church had chipper deluded apologists like this guy, brimming with enthusiasm. I thought they were all surly Irishmen who just told you to shut up.

pastorofmuppets - 2010-03-14

they're called Jesuits

James Woods - 2010-03-14

Also, lol that the best funded schools in north america and many other parts of the world say openly that they're more concerned with teaching the faith than anything else.

Until Americans believes America works without the help of Mr. Elusive the Invisible Wonder, America will stay broken.

Explodotron - 2010-03-14

I loved you in "Hercules"

fermun - 2010-03-14

Hey, that's not a complicated issue at all. That's just the Catholic church being dicks because they hate homosexuals.

Meerkat - 2010-03-14

They ARE homosexuals.

dueserpenti - 2010-03-14

Father, if you're not gay I'll eat a dick. Hypocritical much? And fuck you for making me agree with Bill O'Reilly, I could kill you just for that.

pastorofmuppets - 2010-03-14

"I have the urges, and I fought them off, so why can't others?"

phalsebob - 2010-03-14

Father Morris, such a huge douchebag even O'Reilly looks good in comparison.

Randroid - 2010-03-15

The clergy brand of combined condescension, fake humility and dogmatism.

pineapplejuicer - 2010-03-14

bill o'reilly is for the kids! (that was supposed to be a wu-tang reference but it didn't come through very well in text)

RomancingTrain - 2010-03-14

I'm glad you gave us that little protip because I thought you were referencing this: http://blogs.pitch.com/plog/oreillyforkidscover.jpg

Camonk - 2010-03-14

That priest gets so excited about being shitty to little kids.

James Woods - 2010-03-14

I bet he likes getting shitty from little kids.

Adham Nu'man - 2010-03-14

The Catholic Church cannot allow its identity to be thwarted by incorporating people who believe in sexual intercourse between consenting adults of the same gender; the Catholic Church is, after all, all about sexual intercourse between adults and an unwilling minors of the same gender. We must preserve the Sanctity!!!

Aoi - 2010-03-14

Five stars for Bill O'Reilly.

What the fuck is this world coming to?

FeeFiFoFoTheFifeFifeBrown - 2010-03-14

"I'm sorry, sir, but that's just a little *too* absurdly ultra-conservative for Bill O'Reilly."

Syd Midnight - 2010-03-15

It says it all that the issue is persecuting children, everyone is surprised that Bill O'Reilly is against it.

CharlesSmith - 2010-03-14

It's already been said, but Christ Almighty how do you become so horrible that you make O'Reilly seem reasonable?

That said, any genuinely reasonable person would have ripped that clown of a priest a new one rather than calmly attempting to get him to address the main issue over and over while he ranted about outer fucking space.

RomancingTrain - 2010-03-14

Hey everybody, I heard a bunch of priests fucked some kids.

pastorofmuppets - 2010-03-14

...and the Vatican told all the bishops not to talk to the cops on pain of excommunication and silently moved the offenders to different parishes.

pastorofmuppets - 2010-03-14

...and the man in charge of the investigation purposely conflated homosexuality with pedophilia in his public statements. He would later go on to become pope and say terrible things about gays, Muslims, and even Africans with AIDS.

If you break Omertà in the mob, they only kill you, they don't ban you from heaven.

twinkieafternoon - 2010-03-14

Pauly wants you to know...that he knows what you did...and he's very disappointed...about what must now be done...to your soul's status within the wheel of Samsara. Very sorry, indeed.

Adham Nu'man - 2010-03-14

...and in Ireland, churchgoers are being asked to donate so that the Church can pay the financial compensation they are legally required to pay to the above mentioned fucked children.

I actually would like to stand outside one of those churches in Ireland with a hat and beg for "some money for a poor old pedophile; who can spare a Euro for a poor old pedophile"

pastorofmuppets - 2010-03-14

Say what you will about that priest, but at least he's logically consistent. I have no idea why there are so many gays in the Catholic church, it's like being in an abusive relationship and thinking if you stick it out long enough you'll actually be loved.

Cleaner82 - 2010-03-14

Catholic school will often offer a higher quality education than public school.

So that doesn't nessecarily have anything to do with it.

RockBolt - 2010-03-15

Logically consistent? Maybe in that he consistently cherry picks one brand of sinner and refuses to give a shit about "making a stand" against any of the others that religious texts rail against equally as much that most certainly fill the ranks of catholic parents... oh god I am paraphrasing a very agreeable and sound argument from Bill O'Reilly

pastorofmuppets - 2010-03-15

I meant to say "consistent with the dogma." And not just Catholic dogma, Christian dogma.

Bill, for his part, is as hypocritical as ever here, provided that he's actually going to church and giving money to these people every week.

fatatty - 2010-03-15

Of course Christian dogma is all about cherry-picking what they think will get people converted, riled up and scared to sin. If they were really consistent they would be denouncing shellfish eaters, and tattoo wearers. They should be supporting the use of slaves and allowing parents to kill their children for masturbating.

But no they just know that lots of people want an excuse to hate gays and feel righteous, so the gay bashing shall continue.

twinkieafternoon - 2010-03-14

My favorite fallacy the priest used was assuming the parents were making a demonstration of their homosexuality, and then equated it to if an adulterer ran around town bragging about it, which they would also throw the child out of the school for. There's a name for that one, but I can't remember it.

Begging the question? Assuming a conclusion before you argue in behalf of it's consequences? Help me out here.

Caminante Nocturno - 2010-03-14

I'd call it a mix of a complex question fallacy and a begging the question fallacy.

Camonk - 2010-03-15

It's all mixed up in the "being an asshole" fallacy.

fluffy - 2010-11-14

Throw in a giant heaping of strawman fallacies, too.

nemeses9 - 2010-03-17

As much as I hate to admit it, I don't see a problem. It's a private institution; they have as much right to kick children of a lesbian couple out of their school as I have to kick catholics out of my house. If they didn't want kids with interracial parents to attend their school, this right still applies.

This is why public education exist.

IrishWhiskey - 2010-09-15

Important distinction: They don't have a right to discriminate simply because its a private business. As long as you have more than 15 employees you can't discriminate. However there are some exceptions for religious organizations and business necessity. So unless they were going to claim anti-miscegenation as part of Catholicism, they can't kick out kids with interracial parents for that reason.
