In this case, he was deliberately trying to torture the dog. It's not like he snapped its neck and gutted and stir-fried it, he just stuck a live dog in a 350 degree oven. I would hope torturing livestock would bring the same penalties but I'm guessing not.

I am also an edgy teenager unable to understand the difference between cooking an animal that has no brain and an extremely simple nervous system and cooking an animal that both has a brain nearly as complex as ours and is domesticated, allowing for companionship to develop.
