He pulled this out for his speech at CPAC too, and I didn't know what point he was trying to make then either. I'm assuming it's along the lines of,
1) Communists in the 30s didn't like the constitution, which is bad (Argument by Dismissal)
2) Modern progressives don't like the constitution (Argument by Generalization, Pious Fraud)
3) Modern progressives are communists, which is bad (Affirming the Consequent)
Who cares, people still eat it up.

Meerkat - 2010-04-03 No it didn't. Up in Canada we are socialists and we are planning a new world order centered in Europe. We feel that until the entire world has a united government that can make decisions for the whole planet, the alien ambassadors camped at Area 51 will simply refuse to admit us into the galactic society and the Reptiloids will have won.
To that end we are trying to convince the world to play hockey so that we can put RFID chips in their helmets and have a full background database for each and every player.
But the god damned Europeans and their soccer this and soccer that are just fucking everything up.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2010-04-03 I firmly believe that if South Park had never existed, the use of "commie" as a common epithet wouldn't currently be in use. Like a lot of humor, a great many conservatives I went to college with didn't seem to get that Eric Cartman wasn't there to be emulated; he was a fat racist dick. This, however, seemed to appeal to them for some reason, and all of a sudden "hippie" and "commie" became standard argot for them, divorced from what they actually meant or the history behind them. It's just another word they haul out when they don't like someone and want to sound Republican.
