I ordered and ate one of these today. I continued to taste the sandwich 30-40 minutes after having finished eating it and finished my drink but was unable to remove the salty taste. One and a half hours later I felt a severe pang of guilt and took on a comatose slumber.

Camonk - 2010-04-14

Did you try the original recipe or the grilled this is important to know

Urburos - 2010-04-14

I went with original to increase the possibility of my "sandwich" being able to hold together when squeezed.

The Mothership - 2010-04-14

From the newscaster stumbling over her lines to the drawly sandwich assembler to the drawly fitness instructor to the college kid eating the thing ironically to the fat-ass KFC media relations guy to the doctor eating at KFC un-ironically; this is POE turned into a delicious sandwich.

Do not breathe this.

MongoMcMichael - 2010-04-14

Internet dust. Don't breathe this!

I KILL YOU

BHWW - 2010-04-14

The Double Down is like something out of a fast-food commercial parody come to horrible, horrible life.

lucienpsinger - 2010-04-14

I'm sure Patton Oswalt needed new material anyway.

cognitivedissonance - 2010-04-14

Dude, KFC realizes this. He, and the rest of the "food comedy" sorts of comedians, is like their personal unpaid spokesman. At this point, they're making food ENTIRELY FOR PATTON OSWALT TO GRIPE ABOUT.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2010-04-14

The Onion sure has been on a roll this month.

glendower - 2010-04-14

I like the college guy. What's his angle? Is he being ironic? Is he a free-market libertarian? Is he doing this to get laughs back at the dorm? A wonderful mystery.

millerman13 - 2010-04-14

I'm assuming he's being semi-ironic. He's a left-leaning apolitical guy who loves fast food.

He's a jazz musician in Louisville, if that helps. We've been good friends for a long time.

HankFinch - 2010-04-14

Isn't that the direct opposite of ironic? He's very direct and clear that he's doing something unhealthly on purpose because it tastes good.

Feyd - 2010-04-14

The internet doesn't know what to do when confronted by honesty and sincerity.

Caminante Nocturno - 2010-04-14

You can eat the double-down, or you can retrain your self-respect. You can't do both.

tamago - 2010-05-14

What if I was just morbidly curious?

My grandparents wanted to try this, so they gave me money to buy one for me and one each for them. None of us were that impressed. I believe the general consensus was "meh."

tmavomodry - 2010-04-14

is it a surprise that KFC Public Relations man Rick Maynard is a lardo?

Xero - 2010-04-14

Its not even a damn sandwich! Next to come to fruition, "The Luther".

chumbucket - 2010-04-14

I've mentioned this before but when I lived in Louisville I worked for a company that hosted taste testing for KFC prior to product roll-out...basically collected around 100 human guinea pigs from the area (or ARE-EEYA as they say down there). So I'm pretty sure this guy was NOT the very first in the city to eat this thing, or any other disgusting concoction the Colonel's soldiers invent.

pastorofmuppets - 2010-04-14

dietary fat : body fat :: dietary cholesterol : blood cholesterol

Not that you'd catch me anywhere near one of those things, but it's not that many calories. There are almost as many in a McDonald's grilled chicken sandwich.

FeeFiFoFoTheFifeFifeBrown - 2010-04-14

Ever heard of sodium, champ?

pastorofmuppets - 2010-04-14

I think they said it was 1400 mg, right? That's fine as long as you don't eat for the rest of the day.

Zarathustra00 - 2010-04-14

I was really mystified by the comment that 540 calories was more like two meals worth instead of one. Either this woman is a hobbit and eats 6 meals a day, or doing this interview used all of the calories she can afford to burn and not have her organs shut down.

Zarathustra00 - 2010-04-14

Additional fun facts:
1380mg sodium corresponds to 3500mg salt.
3.5g ~ 3/5 of a teaspoon for table salt.
This is just over half the RDA of salt for a 2000 calorie diet.

boner - 2010-04-14

It's so big. It's fuckin' great.

memedumpster - 2010-04-14

Kentucky hates you all, eat KFC.

poorwill - 2010-04-14

Disgusting, but let's be real: nobody would have a problem with this if it was exactly the same only it came in a bun.

AmericanAir - 2010-04-15

Not for a few years anyway

pastorofmuppets - 2010-04-15

without the bun it just looks like something somebody ate half of and threw out

nemeses9 - 2010-04-14

"540 calories"

Oh well, that's not so ba-

"1380mg sodium"

Jesus fucking Christ.
