TED talks: secular pseudo-intellectual evangelism for people who would rather be passively entertained than engage in active inquiry. BMWs are nifty.

Baldr - 2010-04-17 Didn't Rick Warren give a TED talk?
|
CapnJesusHood - 2010-04-17 do you disagree with the opinions presented or are you just expressing your contempt for the source and its intended audience?

Syd Midnight - 2010-04-18 Then Sheikdjibouti should do a TED talk on gynecology. No time for dissent, if we work together we could make this happen!

It's a shame the people he's discussing, the vaccine deniers and the genetic engineering opponents, don't give a rat's ass if their arguments make sense or not.

Candlejackv616 - 2010-04-17 true, basically 50% of this country...ok maybe more than that is filled with incredibly entitled, delusional, ignorant assholes.

Syd Midnight - 2010-04-18 It's not questioning the safety, which anyone who wants to eat GM food has already done, it's the people who reject it out of hand because of what it is.
Now that genes can't be patented in the US, you'd think people would want to invest in honest Mom & Pop GM crop producers and massive public safety research, but most people who oppose it don't want safe GM food, they're offended by its very existence because it is evil to them. See also vaccination, fluoride, aspartame, MSG, EM sensitivity, census etc. DO THE RESEARCH! It's a rabbit hole you can stick your head into and never pull it back out.

Why would you call açaí into evidence if you have absolutely no idea what it is or how to pronounce it?
Açaí tastes like a grape and a blueberry had sex. That's good.
Organic milk stores twice as long as non-organic. That's good.
Christmas didn't exist before God screwed us. That's good.
