Writer 1: "Fuck. I can't think of a joke."
Writer 2: "Me, neither."
Writer 3: "Let's just see who'll pay us to advertise for them."
All writers in unison: "Agreed!"

Xenocide - 2010-05-04

Actually, about half the shows on Fox are pulling this shit this week. It's part of some sort of tie-in with Glee. The network is to blame for this particular mess, not the writers.

But don't let that stop you, guys. Let the internet's One Trillionth Generic Simpsons Bitchfest Commence!

IrishWhiskey - 2010-05-04

All the network asked for was some music numbers, which the Simpsons have done a hundred times before with creativity and humor. No one forced them to lazily reenact whatever YouTube video came up first.

That said, I'm neither amused nor offended by this. I've seen it done better, but its not like The Simpsons still has high standards to live up to.

Camonk - 2010-05-04

Yeah cause the generic bitchfests about the simpsons are a lot more annoying than absurdly loyal fans passive aggressively licking hot sauce out of the writers' assholes because they entertained you once ten years ago.

It's to the point where you're defending the writers' stupid choices as them letting someone take the control away from them. And this is supposed to make us stop calling them stupid and awful?

Magical Man from Happy-Land - 2010-05-05

how the fuck do you passively aggressively lick hot sauce out of a butthole?

fluffy - 2014-11-02

With great aplomb.

revdrew - 2010-05-04

Fuck everything

Chizmurder - 2010-05-04

The Simpsons are still more entertaining then most crap on TV.

That being said, this song IS terrible... but Dr. Hibbert break dancing is worth 4 stars.

Xenocide - 2010-05-04

The song sucks, but the lyrics refer to a lot of varied activities which can be used to set up visual gags. I'm guessing that's why they picked this one. It's a bad song but makes for a good cartoon sequence.

Hooker - 2010-05-04

Who watches "most crap on television"? I find that to be a really stupid defense of a bad show.

Urkel Forever - 2010-05-04

Xenocide, I'll just assume you don't know what the phrase "good cartoon sequence" means.

Twitch - 2010-05-04

ProTip: You don't have to watch TV at all.

Hooker - 2010-05-04

What does it mean, Urkel Forever?

James Woods - 2010-05-04

Xeno, I usually agree with you, but I can't this time man. Really sorry.

5 for the comments related to this video.

Urkel Forever - 2010-05-04

"What does it mean, Urkel Forever?"

You know, a cartoon sequence that is creative, interesting, fun, etc. In other words, not this.

Hooker - 2010-05-05

That's awfully vague.

Caminante Nocturno - 2010-05-04

The last time I tried watching the Simpsons, they were doing an episode about Bakugan.

Caminante Nocturno - 2010-05-04

And now that I think about it, that combined with this deserves one star.

theSnake - 2010-05-04

gay

La Loco - 2010-05-04

Suck my snake gay.

The Mothership - 2010-05-04

Awful, just awful. But 'urge to kill rising' is a brilliant tag, stars for it.

Candlejackv616 - 2010-05-04

This is the grossest thing the RECENT simpsons have done yet, I'm done trying to defend this shit. Everytime i watch new simpsons it makes me mad how hard their trying to be like other animated shows, its like wtf happened?

Last good season for me was 11, then after that I just slowly started drifting away from the show.

Jet Bin Fever - 2010-05-05

Yeah, I think it was completely great till about season 10 or 11 and then it just got ATROCIOUS remarkably fast. I got a bootleg in Vietnam with 21 seasons on it and 10 of those or so are completely worthless.

positively - 2010-05-04

This really happened? Like this isn't some sophisticated fan-made video?

Desidiosus - 2010-05-04

what

stage - 2010-05-04

fuck

The Simpsons used to have soul and wit... now its just complete shit.

fluffy - 2014-11-02

couplets are the lowest form of poetry

Goethe and ernie - 2010-05-04

Thank God for this, I'd spent so long thinking "if only Uffie were more obnoxiously unlistenable"

poorwill - 2010-05-04

I don't know how recent it was, but I saw a surprisingly good episode the other day. It was about Maggie getting kidnapped by nuns. It went to absolute shit in the last third, but there were some genuinely good gags before then.

FABIO - 2010-05-04

I'm going to blame Simpsons decline on the decline of talented Harvard grads. The Harvard Lampoon went from a place where truly talented people got together to make quality humor to a magnet for hack pricks to leech off a legacy.

Seriously, pick up a recent copy of the Harvard Lampoon and it'll all make sense.

Riskbreaker - 2010-05-04

Stop complaining about something that was already old news ten years ago. Yes, the simpsons suck now, let's just move on.

bac - 2010-05-04

They were still decent 10 years ago. God young people piss me off.

klingerbgoode - 2010-06-12

No they weren't. They started failing around 1997.

Lord Peter Wimsley - 2010-05-04

When people say "2010" they'll use this to represent the mess the record industry was in, because now everybody knows this song.

It has influences from like 5 genres of the moment, and it's crappy as hell.

Midnight Man - 2010-05-04

oh fuck offffffffffffffffff

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2010-05-04

This was the first time I'd ever heard this song. I'm not with the times and I'm glad.

klingerbgoode - 2010-06-12

this is the first time i've heard the "real" song, and i'm deeply saddened to learn that it is a commercial release, and not a song that was composed entirely for the sake of making a chris-chan fan video.

Urkel Forever - 2010-05-04

Wow. I haven't seen a new episode in years (despite owning several seasons on DVD), and I can say I am happy with that choice.

memedumpster - 2010-05-04

Five for all of our past creative culture niches just SMEEEAAARRRIIINNNGG across all media.

cognitivedissonance - 2010-05-04

Oh PLEASE, people. Lest we forget The Bartman.

This show has never been above this sort of thing. The show's cultural descendants, however, are such crap that we seem to imagine it once had a halcyon moment.

Potrod - 2010-05-04

Wasn't the Bartman in like season 1 or 2? The first season (and possibly the second) of the Simpsons may have been entertaining at the time, but I think most people who think the Simpsons had a "golden age" will agree that the first season was definitely NOT it, and that it actually kinda sucks in retrospect. So yeah, I'd say the Simpsons was definitely above this kind of thing in seasons 3-9.

Funny how it often takes good shows a few seasons to really hit their groove. The first seasons of the Simpsons, Seinfeld, MST3K, and South Park are all basically unwatchable to me.

FABIO - 2010-05-05

Beavis & Butthead

nemeses9 - 2010-05-04

Funny, I clicked on a link for a Simpsons clip but it feels an awful lot like I just watched a Family Guy clip.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2010-05-04

5 because this is exactly the sort of thing that the Simpsons would have made fun of their first ten years. Tasteless, vacuous, meme driven nonsense.

spikestoyiu - 2010-05-04

This was Fox mandated. It definitely sucks and it sucks hard, but it was Fox mandated. That aside, this was actually a good episode, as far as new Simpsons episodes go.

athodyd - 2010-05-05

there is no possible reason anyone should care either way about the simpsons

Blandwiches - 2010-06-26

Music videos that literally act out the lyrics are the best videos.
