It's not just paranoia...the NRA has a point-- if the governments takes away guns from suspected terrorists, then the next logical step is to take them away from people that are not suspected terrorists. Those conniving freedom hating bastards.

BorrowedSolution - 2010-05-15

If you honestly think somebody's a terrorist, then arrest them. Don't take guns away from people you aren't willing to charge them with something, or it IS a slippery slope.

Jack Dalton - 2010-05-16

There is nothing constitutionally impermissible about having this policy if the government can justify it in light of public safety. If we are willing to accept that suspected terrorists cannot be passengers on airplanes, then the same principle can presumably apply to guns ownership. I do take issue if the criteria for any public safety measure is not carefully tailored-- that is where there might be a risk of a slippery slope.

Regardless of whether the policy is right or wrong, I have nothing but disdain for the cynical fear mongering tactics that the NRA leadership uses to maintain its position of influence.

The problem is that there would be no due process. Apply the reasoning to rights you do enjoy: ban suspected terrorists from using free speech, habeas corpus, voting, moving between state lines, etc.

Probably your first question would be something along the lines of, "Well, who gets to determine who's a 'suspected terrorist.'" If choices are made similar to the methods used for the no-fly list, I think that might cause more than a few headaches.

But... TERRORIST!

That's enough to make people go blind with terror-tears. The one guy was saying that if you end up on the watch list, you should be deported.

Cena_mark - 2010-05-15

Holy Shit! People who belong to an organization don't agree with each and every stance it makes! That makes them all hypocrites. I know all you Democrats agree with every stance your party makes. I know there aren't any hypocrites here.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2010-05-15

Go differ with the Republicans on one issue and see how far you rise in the party.

Pick abortion, immigration, science, or guns. Any one will do. You'll get tea-bagged in the parking lot.

memedumpster - 2010-05-15

This is a tricky issue, but I think it stems more from a lack of faith in the terrorist watch list than in the process of buying firearms.

Cena_mark - 2010-05-15

When people think about the terror watch list people think of guys who wear turbans and clothing made from dynamite. Nobody wants guys like that to buy guns in the U.S. However I'm sure if explained to them that this could lead to whoever runs the list (as in right now its Obama's people) then they'd change their opinion on that.

Stick to Fox News, because reading/listening to another source is bad information getting.

Or something.

Cena_mark - 2010-05-15

Dizzy Gillespie: That's an out right exaggeration. You have Fox, Rush, Hannity, Coulter, The Drudge Report, The Washington Times, The Wall Street Journal and many more sources of truth.

Louis Armstrong - 2010-05-15

Then you tell him that then. By the way hannity, even though you are refering to his radio show(probably), still counts as Fox(because he is saying the same turd sandwich, just without awesome rock tunes between commercials)

Cena_mark - 2010-05-15

I love Hannity's radio show more than his tv one.
Speaking of bumper music (music between the commerials) Rush Limbaugh sometimes use "Sleep Now in the Fire" by Rage Against the Machine. It always cracks me up when he does.

Freedom is the most important thing! Freedom for everybody!

EXCEPT THAT GUY!

PS: 100 extra stars for the utterly unexpected voice from the guy at 2:07.
