You'd think that for two badass Mexican hitmen to have risen to where they did in their field, and survive as long as they did, they would have been slightly less inept.

freedoom - 2010-05-17

They are dealing with Hank Schrader here. He is the most bad ass DEA agent ever despite the fact that exploding turtles make him cry.

HankFinch - 2010-05-17

I'm going to walk staight up to the back of the DEA's car and start shooting

MartinBishop - 2010-05-17

These 5 stars are for Breaking Bad, but also Freedoom, because I lol'd

ItsAboutTime - 2010-05-17

Oh man, I hope someone posts the scene from the last episode (the follow up in the hospital), that shit is really fucked up

Cleaner82 - 2010-05-17

I really should not have watched that. And yet, so great.

petep - 2010-05-17

this is laughable

THA SUGAH RAIN - 2010-05-17

yeah i mean how did that ax cut through asphalt so easily? psh, shooped.

petep - 2010-05-17

it's like a dream sequence form the sopranos

Aelric - 2010-05-17

My dream sequences form Voltron

Cat_Mech - 2010-05-17

Tense?

Let me introduce you to my friend Omar. There were more tense moments in pretty much any episode of The Wire. Not that this is a bad show... it's just that compared to when Kima gets ambushed and shot in the back of the car during that set up, this is like watching a cartoon.

OK, I'm not being fair. Nothing compares to The Wire.

Aelric - 2010-05-17

Since this is full of spoilers anyway, what about the scene where Walt watches Jessie's girlfriend choke to death on her own vomit and had every opportunity to help but doesn't. That, to me, was the scene that beat all the others. This one was up there too. I personally feel this show trumps the wire but that's just me. And that isn't to say The Wire isn't a DAMN close second.

The Faghorn - 2010-05-17

I don't think anyone was comparing this scene to that one from the Wire, however.

WHO WANTS DESSERT - 2010-05-17

Omar was a walking cartoon character in a show whose main selling point was how realistic and human the characters were. Breaking Bad has a precedence for pretty much being in its own little world so the Mexican Anton Chigurh Cousins fit just fine, but every time Omar or Brother Mouzone showed up I was rolling my eyes so hard they almost popped out of my head.

Hooper_X - 2010-05-18

MAN YOU JUST SPOILED THE PLOT OF MY NEW FANFIC WHERE OMAR AND BROTHER MOUSONE FIGHT THE COUSINS IN THE MIDDLE OF LEFT 4 DEAD

Camonk - 2010-05-18

MY OWN CUSTOME THE WIRE CHARACTER WAS GONNA BE THERE

HIS NAME IS VIPER AND HE HAS A KATANA HE'S ALSO AN ELF

Oktay - 2010-05-18

Aelric: if you watch that scene again, you'll notice that she was sleeping on her side, and rolled on her back only after Walter shook Jessie. And if you go back a couple of episodes, to where Jessie shoots up for the first time, you'll hear her saying "lie on your side, in case you barf in your sleep" or some such. Oh yeah, this post contains spoilers, btw.

Aelric - 2010-05-18

Oktay: I remember all that. It was still murder though inaction. He was still in the room, he still could have reached over and propped her up. The point of the scene was that he could have stopped it, but he decided that it would be in his best interest if she died, which at the time in his character's development was still a real shocker, as there was no real reason to kill her other than his odd motivation to clean Jessie up. And that expression of pain on his face, then opening his eyes and suddenly going totally cold. God, I still adore that scene so much. It's my favorite moment in a show full of great moments.

Oktay - 2010-05-19

Well, I consider it more than that -- he made her roll over. And you can almost read his thoughts and I feel he just figured he'd be better off without another person trying to control Jessie. I don't think it was out of concern for Jessie, it was what worked best for Walter. IMHO of course.

MartinBishop - 2010-05-17

Breaking Bad is the best show on tv right now.

Camonk - 2010-05-18

Community.

But it's easily the best drama.

Sexy Duck Cop - 2013-06-26

"Community is the best show on TV."

--Camonk, in the far more innocent year of 2010.

Camonk - 2013-08-05

Yeah, I really dropped the ball on that one. No question.

numb - 2010-05-17

This show is good.

Angel Carver - 2010-05-18

Obviously any fan of any show will say this about any scene but, as brilliantly conceived and executed as this scene is, SO much of the tension in this sequence derives from how beautifully they build up to it. Hank has been dealing with his own on-the-job fear and anxiety--rational? irrational?--for a full season and a half now. This moment--which arrives only after he's finally been debadged and disarmed--is the ultimate realization of what he's been dreading all this time.

We've seen how this moment came to pass but for Hank, in that car, it feels like a nightmare come to life...and we experience that through him. The tension is not just in the sequence itself...so if you haven't been watching the series and go "meh" when you see this then actually WATCH the show or STFU.
