Wow, Hugh Laurie did a terrible American accent back then.
He doesn't do a particularly good one now either. Most British actors seem to think all Americans sound like they're either Yosemite Sam or they talk through their noses.
This is a rare episode that's been shown on British television like twice in 25 years (because it's kind of embarrassing)
