Also: "They're here to see a movie. The characters of the movie are dressed like these people, which explains why these people are dressed as they are."

tmavomodry - 2010-06-04

Holy shit that's Stipe in the preload image.

Stopheles - 2010-06-04

Before I saw his face, I saw the Blue Oyster Cult symbol on his jacket.

BorrowedSolution - 2010-06-04

Proto-Juggalos. Fucking normal social interaction, how does that work?

-2 because fuck this movie.

The Faghorn - 2010-06-04

I must've missed those news stories about the guy dressed as Rocky that went around shooting up gay bars.

This is silly shit, but there's a wide gulf between cosplay and ICP's worst fans.

BorrowedSolution - 2010-06-04

That kind of thinking is exactly what enables cults to propagate. You, sirrah, are an enabler.

Xenocide - 2010-06-04

Cults? Yes, being obsessed with a bad movie is exactly like a cult. The only difference between these guys and Jonestown is the makeup.

I think maybe you're just confused and angered by the unfamiliar sight of a group of people getting together for a good time.

Riskbreaker - 2010-06-04

I don't like the movie at all either, but really, Rocky fans in the same level as juggalos? That's a low blow, im sure most of these people at least can read properly and doesn't think magnets are miracles.

Candlejackv616 - 2010-06-04

With all due respect to both of you, try going to one of these showings/events (assuming you haven't already, if you have disregard the rest of this shit).

I was dragged to two different midnight showings of this piece of shit, both times by the same chick (cause I'm a jackass who was thinking with my dick) and each time it was terrible and mind shatteringly annoying.

While I wouldn't go so far as to say they are as bad as Juggalos, I could see the train of thought that would lead someone to make such a statement.

Syd Midnight - 2010-06-05

Rocky Horror fans are about as far as you can get from Juggalos on a spectrum of obnoxious dorks.

Riskbreaker - 2010-06-05

Hey, i didn't say they are people i would like to hang with. I just think juggalos are still the lowest in the annoying fanbase tree species.

Also, every single nightmarish anecdote i've heard about rocky fans all have the same thing in common: the victim was dating, banging or trying to bang a female rocky fan.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2010-06-05

You are such a Magenta.

Timothy A. Bear - 2010-06-04

Those 70's TV announcer costumes were pretty weird.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2010-06-04

I'm in a plastic cage of emotion!

charmlessman - 2010-06-04

And it NEVER WENT AWAY!!!

GRAHHHHHHH IT BURRRRRRRRRNS!!!

chumbucket - 2010-06-04

horrible report but as someone who can't stand cosplay, there is something about the rocky horror crowd that's eternally entertaining

and the Stipe surprise gets 5 stars

Xenocide - 2010-06-04

The Rocky Horror people are fun because they know it's a cheesy crappy movie, but they enjoy it on those terms. So they don't really take it, or themselves, very seriously. There's your difference; basically every other cosplay fandom thinks dressing up like Sephiroth or whoever is an extremely important, serious affair and no one may dare taint it with mirth or levity.

Hooper_X - 2010-06-04

I beg to differ. I used to date a girl who hung out with some Rocky Horror people. For a lot of them, it's a dumb silly thing to do, but the ones who take it seriously?

Oh christ. Incredible amounts of drama over nothing worth anything.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2010-06-05

Thank you, Xenocide. You nailed it. Rocky Horror is for people that celebrate B movies and this is their king. It's an excuse to be silly and enjoy the horribleness. The fun of this movie is in the interaction, in making fun of it.

The comparison to Juggalos isn't very apt because they practically worship the urine stained ground that ICP stands on.

Hooper_X - 2010-06-17

Yes and no, ROUS. The problem is that 99% of the time their "fun" becomes scripted and utterly mundane. There are Standard and Authorized Callbacks that you yell at the screen, and any deviation is to be met with hostility.
