I think it depends on if they were mocking the old man or trying to show approval. Either way imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and all that.
Yes, I clearly hate fun and that is what this is about.
I also hate people so boring yet desperate for attention that they'll try and steal someone's thunder just so someone else will look at them and possibly mistake them for being funny or interesting.

This guy could easily be as young as 50. Not everyone is so slow to age visually. My dad is 55 and looks about 45, and I know people that are pushing 45 that look 60. Not only that, my grandfather, age 85, runs 4 miles a day and looks like an age-advanced picture of a beach bum circa 1950 - which he basically is.
