FYI this literally comes out of nowhere. It's a normal teen romance movie up until the end and then bam everyone dies in 9/11.

He might be OK
Well, that's enough staring out the window. Time to get an ice cream cone!

something tells me a screenwriter saw a deadline looming

The plane was hijacked by werewolves.

It's true that this does come out of nowhere, but its not the end of the movie. The movie goes on for another 10-12 minutes or so showing what happened to the other characters in the film. (no, everyone doesn't die, just Pattinson's character)
This is the weirdest attempt at adding drama to a mediocre film ever. I mean his character could have died in a hundred other ways; to invoke 9/11 is just fucking ridiculous to the point of being almost offensive.
"Almost"?! I felt a little vomit in the back of my throat at the way too portentous pan to the fucking blackboard.
This wasn't even interesting. Why are you all 4 and 5 starring this?
evil/stupid of this magnitude is easily 5 stars, I think.
No, it's really not.
yeah, you will not tone it down, brah.
Ludo Smell Bad
+5 for the fact that Pattison is, in fact, a world class troll.
-4 because of the anviliciousness of it. true evil has subtlety.
According to Wikipedia, after the attack the other characters rush to the scene and find his journal in the rubble.

Cheap romance movie starring cheap leading man with a cheap heartjerker finale. I'm totally getting this when it's in the bin at Wally World.

It's so traumatic it caused a crash to desktop.
It's a long and time honored tradition in cinema where if you know your shitty romance or coming of age movie sucks, attempt to attach it to some sort of traumatic event. Half of the terrible European movies I was forced to watch in college were coming of age movies about boys getting gay with each other by some perv director who tried to make it legit by mentioning the French Algerian war in the background.
The Dreamers was a movie by a perv director about a brother and sister's incestuous relationship trying to be legit with a couple of scene spliced in about the 1960s Paris revolution.
Nothing You Have is Private was a movie by a perv director about middle aged men chasing after a 13 year old girl, so he tried to pass it off as meaningful by making her Arab and mentioning the Gulf War in the background. Then he decided that wasn't enough so he renamed it "Raghead" so suddenly it wasn't a pervy movie anymore, it was about RACISM (but no it was still about middle age men having sex with 13 year old girls).

-2 stars because I'm certain the film chickened out and didn't show the actual event.
|CornOnTheCabre - 2010-07-07 |
Well, when you put it that way, I guess 9/11 wasn't ALL bad.
|Goethe and ernie - 2010-07-07 |
Does the film explicitly state that this takes place on 9/11 or something, because without seeing an actual plane hit the building, I'm not buying it.

I stayed home on 9/11 because the ominous background music made me paranoid

What? How the fuck could they manage to make 9/11 WORSE?
