Dread Pirate Roberts THIS is why I love Carl Sagan. So eloquent... and so right. The last few minutes alone and what I often cannot seem to accurately bring to words when discussing this issue with those that are still stuck in that old-world mindset. Thank you Sagan.
Also, anyone know what this is from? I'd love to hear more audio from Sagan like this.
akinskirage Excellent. Bonus stars for Jack Nicholson as the serpent, at 6.44.
takewithfood When I was 4, I used to watch some kind of Carl Sagan show every morning at my baby sitter's house - I think it was probably Cosmos, but I don't recall. All I remember his his voice, and the sense of utter awe at the things he had to say. I don't know who I would be today if I hadn't soaked up so much of that show.
Binro the Heretic The Insane Clown Posse should be strapped into Clockwork Orange chairs and forced to watch everything Sagan ever made.
Aelric Beautiful. I take far greater comfort in musings such as this than any holy book. I'd add the the existence of a god in and of itself would rule out any possibility or purpose, as we would be even more meaningless and insignificant in comparison of an omnipotent being than even the vastness of space could make us. On our own, at least there is a chance. Our matter decomposes and eventually reconstitutes into new things. That is all the immortality we could ever truly need.
