WHO WANTS DESSERT - 2010-07-22

IN AMERICA THEY CHAIN WOMEN TO BEDS WHEN THEY GIVE BIRTH

Gayperson - 2010-07-22

exterminate.

dueserpenti - 2010-07-22

"Open up and take a new look into birth."

Um, no thanks.

"The same organs used in childbirth are the ones stimulated during sex."

Oh, no kidding?

I got a million of 'em.

Chalkdust - 2010-07-22

I look forward to any other marvels the "sweeps week" tag may bring

cognitivedissonance - 2010-07-22

This goes against the divine curse of Eve and I'll have none of it.

*goes off to work by the sweat of his brow and stomp on a snake's head*

Scynne - 2010-07-22

All the COOL women give birth in a hot tub!

Foux du Fafa - 2010-07-22

I'm just picturing someone walking in on a conversation at a dinner party: "Yes, my baby gave me an orgasm!"

SixDigitDebt - 2010-07-22

By the way, women also shit themselves when they gave birth. Not metaphorically. They defecate. Literally. The look on my buddy's face when he came blundering out of the delivery room when his daughter was born.....

...no, nevermind this, I don't want to ever raise a child who one day may be faced with the fact that his first act in the world was to give his mommy an orgasm. That opens the door to a whole dimension of weird that I don't even want to think about it.

Xenocide - 2010-07-22

So the choices are give mom an orgasm or make mom shit all over the place.

You know what? These orgasmic moms can do whatever they like, because Birth is ALWAYS fucked up.

Xenocide - 2010-07-22

All I'm saying is, I'm glad I'm not a lady because then either blood or tiny people would be coming out of my crotch with amazing regularity. Why are girl-crotches so presumptuous?

SixDigitDebt - 2010-07-23

I think he said that it actually has to do with the abdominal contractions as to why the bowels forcibly evacuate (that means "poop" to you lesser humans.) I don't think it's an 'or' situation. It's going to happen.

But you know this may actually have the wonderful side effect of shutting women the fuck up when they start whining about "how men should be more understanding and will never know the pain of childbirth" and blah blah. Now we know. We experience the pain of childbirth about five minutes into a good porn clip.

memedumpster - 2010-07-22

So... is fisting a part of lamaze classes and no one told me?

chumbucket - 2010-07-22

All this talk about "transforming the pain" is basically describing masochism. So why don't they just open this whole thing up into the leather, whips and chains and just deliver the damn baby.

And the dude talking about "hit yourself in the head with a hammer" just has no clue. It would have meant more if he said "hit yourself in the cervix with a hammer".

Syd Midnight - 2010-07-22

It's called "fisting". Welcome to the internet!

torien_0031 - 2010-07-22

Little bit of an LJ here:

My wife and I are expecting our first child in 8 days (ish) and my wife has always hoped to have an orgasmic birth.

As we’ve been preparing and learning about birth I have almost done a complete reversal on my own opinion of orgasmic birth. One thing we’ve learnt from people who’ve experienced natural child birth is that there is no physiological reason for contractions to cause intense pain and women who experience little to no cramping during their menstrual cycle are likely to experience little to no pain during contractions (crowning and the actual birth would be completely different of course).

It’s funny that a lot of people immediately assume that a woman will suffer without huge amounts of painkillers but once you start learning about how epidurals make a women’s uterus slow and sluggish, thus extended labour, so then doctors give her fake hormones to speed it up which stops natural endorphins from being created, and thus causing more pain. All of a sudden it makes sense to let the body take care of itself.

I think childbirth in North America has become kinda like Ritalin for ADD or ADHD. There are definitely some legitimate cases where an epidural is necessary and doctors need to be there to get you through the shit, but in reality lots of women could deliver a baby with no help at all.

Enjoy - 2010-07-22

Wehn my wife had a baby by C-section, I had an orgasm. Everyone in the O.R. said it was beautiful.

WHO WANTS DESSERT - 2010-07-22

So you asked a bunch of people who are for "natural" birth and they told you a bunch of stuff that support it? Shocking! I hope for your kids' sake your investigation into things like vaccines and letting your kid eat wheat are a little more vigorous.

Also, fucking LOL that you think you know better than actual psychiatrists about ADD and ADHD.

memedumpster - 2010-07-22

Not to make you nervous, but my sister in law had my niece naturally. It was a hellish cataclysm of screaming and horror.

torien_0031 - 2010-07-22

We have spoken to people who have actually experienced natural child birth which most doctors have never seen.

In Alberta, where I live, we currently have induction rates of 28.5% for hospital births. Induction can range from non-intrusive procedures like membrane stripping to other inductions like artifical hormones (i.e. pitocin a man made counter part to oxytocin mentioned in the video). After that there is also a high rate of interventions: episiotomy, forcepts, vaccum, etc. We also have a 27.7% cesarean section rate which should be less then 10%. Unfortunately the likelihood for c-sections goes up as more inductions or interventions are piled on top of each other.

We have actually been warned by our doctor that if my wife is have a natural child birth successfully it is likely that other doctors will want to come and observe. Which made me quite uncomfortable until the she, the doctor, reassured us that we would have privacy if we wanted it.

I also have another story of a doctor friend from Vancouver who no longer attends births because it cuts into her personal life (she would induce more women near the end of her shift so wouldn’t have to work overtime).

To put a rest to you other concerns I will be getting my kid vaccinated and letting him eat wheat.

Also, yes the Ritalin analogy based on my own subjective personal experience. I’ve known an equal amount of people who’ve legitimately benefited from ritalin and those who have been diagnosed “ADD” and then sold ritalin on the school yard.

@memdumptster, my sister also attempted a natural childbirth which ended poorly, c-setcion, so we’re quite willing to accept things aren’t going as planned and try what the experts say.

I hate that stupid hazy camera shit. It looks like they're doing an interview in a soap opera.

dead_cat - 2010-07-24

If they can manage it, good for them. Goodness knows MY mom has never yet tired of telling me about all the agony I caused her.
