I wonder how long it took the originals to be built.

Ursa_minor - 2010-07-24 I read on this guy's blog that the originals cost 65,000 dollars.

That is awesome.

takewithfood - 2010-07-23 Though, in retrospect, I imagine that most conversations with most girls go like this:
"Oh my god, is that the Daft Punk helmet?"
"Yep."
"That is fuckin' rad. Where did you get it?"
"Actually, I made it."
"What! No way! That's amazing! It must have taken forever."
"About 17 months, yeah. First I made like a clay mould that was about the right size and shaped it so that it-"
"- Wait, woah, hold on. 17 months? You spent 17 months making a helmet?"
"Yeah, pretty cool, right?"
"Jesus, get a life."
But I guess this sort of thing is a magnet for the kind of girl that actually thinks 17 months is worth it, and that's clearly the right kind of girl for this guy.

MrBuddy - 2010-07-23 He also built more than one of both helmet versions.
MrBuddy - 2010-07-27 You mean like... I dunno... watching evil videos on the Internet and commenting on them or something?
oddeye - 2014-03-09 Took me a lot longer than 17 months to paint my bretonnian army cause all my knights had to have their own colours and shit.

Cube - 2010-07-23
That's sad.
Cube - 2010-07-23 It's sad you think it isn't.
Ursa_minor - 2010-07-23 You do know he was commissioned to make it, right?
Squeamish - 2010-07-23 Yes, Cube, it's sad that he has talent and both the energy and willpower to finish a complicated and interesting project that takes more than a single weekend to complete.
SolRo - 2010-07-23 cube, you're on the internet instead of waterskiing with a naked model on your back, thus -you- are sad.
Cube - 2010-07-23 I think it's sad what the other people said above.
Ursa_minor - 2010-07-24 I posted this mostly because the skill involved. Like daft punk or not, if you've ever tried molding/casting/sculpting, you'd recognize the quality of work this guy has done. I'm most impressed with the symmetry he managed to get without halving the entire model first.
I have no idea why that's sad.

Cube - 2010-07-28 I think it's sad you think you can only make a helmet for 17 months or have no hobbies at all.

I especially like the step that involves a corgi. Looks like an important step.

zerobackup - 2010-07-24
Yes it's awesome. Yes it's kind of weird. Truth be told I like the other guy's helmet better....but still this is absolutely kickass.

He should've put a fedora on top of it.
