I've got good news! The TV show that you love will never go out of style!

Lately I've been watching Twin Peaks for the first time in years, and for the first time ever from something more high-def than the EP VHS tapes that I used to record it when it was broadcast 20 years ago. It's just as good as ever, but it doesn't seem so weird anymore. So much TV of the last 20 years of TV bears the influence of this show, which was considered a failure at the time.

Has anyone posted any clips with David Duchovny as the world's most low key transvestite? He actually looked pretty good in drag.

I don't recall Twin Peaks being considered a failure. It ran all the way to the end, had great ratings, and massive cult following, "In response, the network aired the first season finale on a Wednesday night at 10 pm instead of its usual 9 pm Thursday slot. The show achieved its best ratings since its third week on the air with a 12.6 and a 22 share of the audience. (Each rating point in the A. C. Nielsen television survey represents 921,000 homes."

What really ended the show the way it did was increasing tension between Lynch & Frost. It was definitely my favorite show in middle school to the point of an nearly homoerotic obsession with its protagonist.

Viewership plummeted during the second season, though, and it was kind of a tonal clusterfuck. That said, Lynch's season 2 episodes (specifically Maddy's death and the jaw-dropping season finale) have some of the best work he's ever done in any medium.

It got very good ratings to begin with, but nosedived after a while (after the murder was solved basically). Also, it didn't run to the end - they wanted to do another season but it got canned.

Also, if you people want more Twin Peaks, read The Autobiography of F.B.I. Special Agent Dale Cooper: My Life, My Tapes. It is Coop's diary from when he's real young. Captures the tone of the series super well. Easily better than the second season.

I...I've never seen Twin Peaks. Is it all this good?

Season 1 is phenomenal. You'll be semi-hooked by the end of the 1st episode, and by the end of the second episode you'll be booking the rest of your weekday nights off to watch it. Season 2 isn't as strong, but it's still good for wrapping up the show.

Just watch episode 1 and see what you think. I was really, really dubious about it when my friend told me to see it, too...

i think it lost it when they changed coopers romantic interest. (hope this does not spoil anything)

The best parts of Mulholland Drive are like the worst parts of this show, and it's still pretty good.

FABIO - 2010-08-10

This show would have been saved if the entirety of season 2 was Albert punching James in the face.

In the finale he torches his bike.

He prides himself in taking a punch and he'll gladly take another.
