Three cheers for Larry fuckin' Cohen.

The monster isn't even the real star of the flick, it's the dialogue between Carradine and Moriarty if memory serves.

"How come I don't get any biplanes? They had biplanes for King Kong. This is racism!"

So bad it's not even in IMDB.
I was wondering if that was Ray Harryhausen.

baleen - 2010-08-13

Oh wait yeah it is.

This entire movie can certifiably be called a Super Jewy Production.

This clip, in all fairness, doesn't really show the film's truly great aspect aside from a couple of quippy moments with Carradine. Corman-cheap perhaps, but I remember the dialogue and writing being the film's best aspects (it's been a few years since I've watched it - I've got the Blue Underground disc that came out, I think, waaay back when Blue Underground was a new company). Once again, if memory serves, this is a very good performance by Moriarty as a lovable ne'er do well scamp, and Carradine's snarkishness was fun as well. Afficionados of B-and-cult-flicks will find a lot to love with Q.

Moriarty is great in this -- a batshit, classic method performance that he almost tops in his next film with Cohen, 'The Stuff'. In that film, he plays a suave corporate spy with a dodgy Louisiana accent.

I prize movies like Q and Allan Arkush & Joe Dante's Hollywood Boulevard because they're so cheap that they needed to film on real locations. Thus we get to see inside the spire of one of the greatest skyscrapers in the world and we have an accidental document of the disrepair of the Hollywood sign circa 1975-76.

And Caminate its Chrysler not Chrystler.

Caminante Nocturno - 2010-08-14

It's Caminante, not Caminate.

I first caught this movie way back when on a independent TV station, their late, late movie presentation, which was almost always either a made-for-TV movie from the early 80s or some unsold pilot repackaged as a TV-movie, or a horror film.

Good times, good times.

How you get snuck up on by that thing? Some Shaolin monk.

I haven't seen it in a long time, but in 4th and 5th grade my best friend WORSHIPPED this movie.
