a long time ago on this site someone asked me to post more stories (it stemmed from my oft-repeated "how i almost killed m. night shyamalan" story). someone else asked how i had so many strange stories and i replied that extreme southeast pennsylvania/northern delaware was a really weird place where radically different cultures and economic statuses clash and enmesh on a daily basis. i also said that i would honestly contend that i know more insane people in this area than sane ones. this video reminds me of a t-shirt campaign that took root a few years back where dark blue t-shirts emblazoned with a golden outline of the First State adorned the front and the back simply read

Common knowledge, but it bears repeating that these people don't really give a shit about the constitution or the founding fathers other than what they can cherry pick out of it to retroactively justify their views. They just turn to those two as some sort of final word bible on American politics to end all discussion.


My friend's father is constantly pulling this shit. First it was the "under god" thing, next it was "in God We Trust" thing, and after repeatedly pointing out how neither was mentioned by the constitution and founding fathers, he started going with the Mayflower Compact and how our country was founded on it.

And the cycle continues.
