TOOL ASSISTED IS FOR TOOLS

Seriously, this kind of thing is like posting Olympic high jump videos where the athletes are allowed to use video editing software to make it look like they reached the upper ionosphere and chest bumped Jesus.

I.E. NO FUCKING POINT AND ALSO BORING SO STOP IT PEOPLE

Dread Pirate Roberts - 2010-09-21

*****

For you. I'd give real stars, but the video is boring, so it doesn't deserve the correlation.

Quad9Damage - 2010-09-21

I agree. Tool assisted is the same thing as using cheat codes. There is no challenge, no feats being accomplished, and the runner isn't impressing anybody. Wake me up when somebody speed runs through this game with actual skills.

Smellvin - 2010-09-21

The whole point is the show the limits of what is theoretically possible. It's mostly only interesting if you played it and can remember how long it took to get to point X.

It's analogous to a steroid power-lifting league.

Harveyjames - 2010-09-21

These 5 stars are from a guy who thinks a steroid power lifting league would be awesome, and so is this

Mancakes - 2010-09-21

Tool assisted runs are spectacles and I love them.

Xenocide - 2010-09-21

Nope, sorry, tool assisted runs suck.

It's not even as cool as a steroid weight lifting league. It's more akin to a guy "winning" the New York marathon by starting ten feet from the finish line. And then telling everyone about the new record he set.

kingofthenothing - 2010-09-21

If anything, I learned a thing or two about glitches.

If you want to have your sweaty controller purity fetish, that's on you.

NewHeavenSalesman - 2010-09-21

you guys realize that the subject of speedruns is not gymnastics or marathons, but beating Quake E2M4 by one second, right?

Most TAS speedruns are completely unnecessary and dull playthroughs that are pretty much "jump over enemies unless using them to force you through doorways." Others are pretty interesting deconstructions of game mechanics. This is pretty firmly in the latter.

StanleyPain - 2010-09-21

If you're really that offended by this, there's a video out there of a guy beating the whole game, all 100 stars, in one playthrough, with no tricks or tools, as fast he possibly can.

The video is about 8 hours long.

Wander - 2010-09-21

Also It's actually pretty hard to plan these things out and do them. It's about figuring out how a game works and how to use that to your advantage more than skill in actually playing the game, but it's not like you just turn on godmode and win or something.

Udderdude - 2010-09-21

So many people that can't tell the difference between changing the game (game genie, ROM hacks) and using really precise input (TAS).

RomancingTrain - 2010-09-21

I think it's weird that someone would be angry at TAS runs and not speed runs in general, they're all masturbation.

Lurchi - 2010-09-21

Never marry a wop.

voodoo_pork - 2010-09-21

Pretty interesting, but show me an autistic who can do this shit for real.

Mike Tyson?! - 2010-09-21

NO ONE CARES IF YOU CAN'T JUST RATTLE THIS OFF IN ONE GO.

God damn you fucking autistic mutants, that's not the point of these videos.

Harveyjames - 2010-09-21

My eyes have been opened to what serious business this is. Thanks, poetv!

FABIO - 2010-09-21

The most amazing thing about this video is that it actually offends people.

twinkieafternoon - 2010-09-22

Guys, I think we're all missing the true point here.

Gritty Pokemon was the balls.

MrBuddy - 2010-09-22

I thought you were going to say, "'Bake a cake' is a euphemism."

Black Napkins - 2010-09-22

I don't use my skill at video games as an indicator of my self worth, therefore, 5 stars.
