But not the last!

jaunch - 2010-09-27

What I don't really understand about this case is that she hired two hit men to kill her husband and stepson-- which they did. The two men who ACTUALLY murdered two people got life in prison. She got death, even though she never pulled the trigger.

Doesn't it seem like that should be the other way around? Or, kill all three if you want. But why kill her and not the other two? Very odd to me.

jimmicampkin - 2010-09-27

Essentially, her crime was leaving a door open.

citrusmirakel - 2010-09-27

That's not how the law works. Intent is more important than action, which is why there's a range from involuntary manslaughter up to first degree murder, with a range of penalties throughout.

fluffy - 2010-09-27

because presumably someone held a gun to the actual killers' heads and forced them to accept money to take another person's life.

fluffy - 2010-09-27

That said, I personally think that a life sentence with no hope for parole is way worse than death, but I'm a filthy Godless atheist who believes that being able to do constructive things is what makes life worth living so what do I know?

Syd Midnight - 2010-09-27

Like if execution was murder, the Governor would face the death penalty for allowing the execution to take place. But it isn't!

TeenerTot - 2010-09-27

Wait, he SLEPT with her???

Oh, then he killed himself. OK.

Stopheles - 2010-09-27

There's no way in hell that she's the first retarded woman in Virginia.

Siebenstein - 2010-09-27

There you go.

fourthguy - 2010-09-27

Fuck you, I was going to make that exact same joke

TeenerTot - 2010-09-27

Glad I saved these.

Chancho - 2010-09-27

"Seatbelt for ma arm...ha ha ha ha"

rev.dinosaur - 2010-09-27

Thank you for putting this into perspective for me.

Chancho - 2010-09-28

Stolen from a David Cross bit about executing the retarded.

rev.dinosaur - 2010-09-28

No, I know. I needed to be reminded that there are states as bad/worse than Texas.

StanleyPain - 2010-09-27

Whew, now the world is safe again and I can leave my doors unlocked. Thanks Virginia.

Toenails - 2010-09-27

I don't give a fuck if she was some super-genius. Governments shouldn't have the authority to murder their citizens no matter how heinous their crimes.

Robin Kestrel - 2010-09-27

Not to mention that sometimes they really are innocent.

Chris Chan better watch out with those videos he makes wishing the death of trolls.

Caminante Nocturno - 2010-09-27

Virginia is one of the most embarrassing states to live in.

phalsebob - 2010-09-27

Well hold on critics... the prosecutor says she's evil. EVIL! That may be a technical term, but I think we get the point.

James Woods - 2010-09-27

USA USA USA USA USA USA USA!

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2010-09-27

She's obviously a serpent! They're killing the Devil!

She's going to be executed by burning her at the stake. It's the only way to reduce contamination of evil.

Pillager - 2010-09-28

What?

She weighed as much as a duck.

She has to be a witch.

BURN HER!

takewithfood - 2010-09-28

Well, at least there's a bright side - now that she's dead, the victims will come back to life. Plus now, technically, they each have two birthdays, which means double the parties and cake. I assume that's how this works because otherwise it would just be fucking barbaric and horrible.

Vicious - 2011-04-23

I don't value the lives of victims enough to fully punish killers.
