One of the main problems with this show was that Quinn sucked as a moderator, so all too often it devolved into incomprehensible shouting matches (which can be seen at the end of this clip). After Tough Crowd got cancelled, Comedy Central shot a pilot for a similar show, but this time Giraldo was the host. But I guess they needed one more fucking schedule slot for Mind of Mencia.

Giraldo was okay. He was pretty terrible during the Hasselhoff roast, though. Clearly the drugs had already gotten the best of him at that point.

Actually, Giraldo had been sober for four years before he OD'ed last Saturday (unlike Mitch Hedberg who, from many accounts, spiralled into a vortex of heroin and nightmares as his fame grew).

I rarely watched Tough Crowd because I hated most of the regulars (Nick Dipaolo, Jim Norton, etc), and I was so biased against the regulars that I wanted to lump Greg Giraldo in there but he was just too good. I always thought he was funny and, this might sound weird, but honestly after seeing him do a bunch of those roasts I got this vibe that he was probably more troubled than most comedians.

Five stars for him putting that talentless cunt Denis Leary in his place. The look on Denis's face after his snappy Russia comeback is classic. RIP Greg Giraldo.
