Eventually, technology will become so advanced that we can use Minecraft to simulate a computer to run another Minecraft.

pastorofmuppets - 2010-10-08 Moore's law and the back of a napkin say 30 years. Here's hoping Flash isn't around then.

I'm not nerdy enough to know if this is more or less impressive than the guy who built a turing machine in dwarf fortress.
I am nerdy enough to know what both of those things are so five self loathing stars.

pastorofmuppets - 2010-10-08 So that DF one is 8-bit. Less bits :D But it has memory, and a few other things that you need for a full computer.
On a side note, it's unfortunate that the blogs are calling that a Turing machine. Technically it's right (anything that can be rightly called a computer is one), but the one Turing described was a mathematical model and purposely stripped down. That DF one has a lot more to it.
Loathe away :)

Still: WOW.

There's just something really cool about watching someone walk around inside of a computer. Like, this is basically Reboot.

So the guy got offered a job as a developer pretty much immediately when the thing hit the internet.
With some shitty mobile gaming company in Atlanta, but still, it's something.
