Fucking awesome. Too bad the batteries froze over at the coolest part though. I really wanted to see it touchdown.

Charles - 2010-10-05

'Best dad ever' tag?

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2010-10-05

You win the science fair.

pineapplejuicer - 2010-10-05

could you imagine if it had killed someone's dog on re-entry or something? "i'm really sorry about mittens but i've got a nine year old and a four year old in the car who can never know about this"

this is batshit amazing though

RocketBlender - 2010-10-05

Good thing the batteries froze!

RockBolt - 2010-10-05

Yeah you're still about 30 miles short of the most generous boundary of 'space', these videos are always fun though

Scynne - 2010-10-05

This is the most amazing thing I've ever seen.

chumbucket - 2010-10-05

yay for adventurous parenting!

sparklefatty - 2010-10-05

My Dad was drunk every night. That's how I came to be a bitter POE poster.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2010-10-05

Did he give you a pack of cigarettes on your birthdays?

Goofy Gorilla - 2010-10-05

So drunk he forced you to play along with his rocketry obsession?

Jet Bin Fever - 2010-10-05

Most amazing dad. If his kids aren't the coolest ever I'll be shocked.

glasseye - 2010-10-05

Not space, but still super cool.

kwash - 2010-10-05

I wonder if they had to get any kind of permits to do this.

mouser - 2010-10-05

A billion stars.

Explodotron - 2010-10-05

Very cool.

When I first read the title, I thought the dad and kid went to space in a homemade craft. Made me realize that I didn't read the newspaper near enough.

The McK - 2010-10-05

Five for best project.

Bonus stars for pinch-butt aspies bitching about the definition of space.

memedumpster - 2010-10-05

It's edgy and hip(ster) to hate space in America.

HarrietTubmanPI - 2010-10-05

Well space has many definitions. To some, it's the point in the atmosphere where we'd pretty much die in a couple of seconds if exposed (~60,000 feet), to others, it's orbit (about 500 miles or more above Earth). Technically, this is near-space, as you cannot reach space with a balloon.

/Pinching my aspie butt as tight as I can.

glasseye - 2010-10-17

HURR SCIENCE IS HARD EVERYONE WHO LIKES IT MUST BE ONE OF THEM AUTISTICS

StanleyPain - 2010-10-05

This is pretty cool, but I guess I'm jaded in that I'm amazed they were able to do something like this without being thrown in Gitmo the way things are nowadays.

Robin Kestrel - 2010-10-05

At some points, it almost looks like the curvature of the horizon reverses itself. I wonder if that's an effect of the type of lens used. Very cool, though.

fluffy - 2010-11-30

Yes, obviously.

Influence Device TIMR - 2011-01-27

I hate space
