If Christopher Buckley had written that as a satire five years ago, they'd have told him it was too over the top and unrealistic.

Huge spike in donations immediately following the clip hitting the media, she's played the "they're making ad hominem attacks because that's all they have" card well enough for her target demographic, and more people know who she is than ever would have otherwise (for free, no less).
