Phychiatry isn't perfect, but I'll take it over Scientology any fucking day.

Innocent Bystander - 2010-10-11

Yeah well you're probably so chock-full of Thetans you'll say any crazy old thing.

Riskbreaker - 2010-10-11

Fucking brains, how do they work?

SDAusmus - 2010-10-11

Duh, it's all because of alien souls trapped in you and all you have to do is visualize a giant spirit hand chopping them off of you and you'll be fine. Now that'll be 0,000.

Accidie - 2010-10-11

The one thing I agree with the COS on. Psychiatry is totally fucked up. And it is a big problem.

WHO WANTS DESSERT - 2010-10-11

On one side: A money-grubbing cult founded by a sci-fi author, a brand-new poeTV poster, and paranoid schizophrenics

On the other side: All known medical science

Hmmmmmm...who to trust...

HarrietTubmanPI - 2010-10-11

Only one guy I know thinks psychiatry is horrible. His logic is that the human brain is too complex for us to understand. He also thinks 9/11 was an inside job because WTC1 and 2 'neatly fell into their own footprints'.

I think I'm going to side with science - it's not perfect but unless you can come up with a better system then shut the fuck up.

Also, five stars for Scientology jibber jabber.

Meatsack Jones - 2010-10-11

Right, I'll just go back off my bipolar meds, go insane, lose my jobs again, and live on the streets as a howling mad man.

Thank you Accidie! Now I can go back to being beat and raped in an asylum ala the early 1900's rather than getting medical assistance for my legitimate medical illness.

jangbones - 2010-10-11

because something is imperfect, it is completely unworthy of any respect

LOGIC

my friend was once misdiagnosed with a brain tumor, so now I eschew all modern medicine and apply leeches to my abdomen to treat my sprained ankle

Anaxagoras - 2010-10-11

Wow Meatsack. It sounds like you have a bad case of the thetans. You really need to get audited, man.

cognitivedissonance - 2010-10-11

And whoooooo are yoooooou, Accidie?

Oh right, one of the CoS plants. WELCOME ABOARD, YOU WILL ENJOY THE ASSIMILATION.

Syd Midnight - 2010-10-14

I've noticed that people who rail against psychiatry all have a certain something in common

Shoebox Joe - 2013-04-29

@Syd Midnight
Anger issues?

Quad9Damage - 2010-10-11

THIS IS WHAT SCIENTOLOGISTS ACTUALLY BELIEVE.

memedumpster - 2010-10-11

Scientology : BUY OUR BOOKS, LOSER!
Psychiatry : BUY OUR DRUGS, LOSER!

Once again, poe wins.

The McK - 2010-10-11

At least the drugs do shit.

fourthguy - 2010-10-11

Eh, I don't know. My own (total layperson's) attitude toward psychiatry is fairly cynical. I think too often the pharmaceutical industry as a whole pushes pills onto people who may or may not actually need them. I have nothing against psych as a science, but once the business aspect comes into play I start getting a little more skeptical.

Don't get me wrong, the Church is about a thousand times greedier and more full of shit either way. I'm just saying that I think medication is often misprescribed (is that a word?) and has plenty of potential to do more harm than good.

fourthguy - 2010-10-11

Oops, not supposed to be a reply.

cognitivedissonance - 2010-10-11

Whoooooooooo are yoooooooooou, fourthguy?

Feyd - 2010-10-11

I own this on DVD. It was great, they rented this gigantic storefront right in the middle of the city and had a whole fair and everything, with different stations you could go to with exhibits and a chapter of the DVD playing at each one.

I was a fantastic constructive lesson that through clever selection, juxtaposition, and presentation of facts you can make a convincing case for just about any crazy thing.

mudl - 2010-10-11

The science of the mind is about as good as medicine in general was 500 years ago. Taking certain drugs has to be on par with using leeches because we only understand a little bit about the mind, but were working on it.

Accidie - 2010-10-12

take your prozac dissonance.
