Fuck.

Well, that's just great. Soldiers suffering after a traumatic experience are treated like dirt by other soldiers who are too broken to understand the horrors of those traumas.

After my bro went to Iraq my mom pretty much dedicated her life to helping veterans of all wars re-integrate. Some of the stories are harrowing, but the support network is beyond anything this country has ever had before. Interestingly, the support network is coming from the left and the very quiet left wing that exists in the churches, and not the "I'm so Proud of You" cheek pinchers on the Right.

Its not that the right doesn't care. Its just that conservatives don't take mental illness seriously. Its not so much callousness as they just don't get it. Its harder to understand the pain going on in another person's than the pain of a blown off leg. The right has the Wounded Warrior Project which is a fine organization.

Maybe wars of aggression should only be fought by borderline maniacs?

all stars to baleen's mom and brother, forever

oh and WTF Cena for pinning WWP to "the right". Way to take a superb organization and marginalize it to a specific political perspective. Politicizing help like this just waters down the real mission.

Cena_mark - 2010-10-12

Chumbucket: Oops. I guess I was misinformed there. I just know the right really praises and supports the WWP. I guess the Left does too.

Well put Cena. I would ask that you replace "mental illness" with pretty much every other important issue currently in the limelight.

Yelled at? Sounds like somebody made a wrong turn on the way to the Child Saving Corp recruitment office and ended up in the U.S. Army instead. What a fucked up way to learn a lesson.

Sometimes you can be a real piece of work.
