You mean you have to use your hands? That's like a baby's toy.

Raggamuffin - 2010-10-17

Kinect knows where your bones are at all times.

hammsangwich - 2010-10-17

+5 for BTTF2 ref

citrusmirakel - 2010-10-17

Tag suggestions:

"disappointment", "still in beta", or "the future sucks".

Chalkdust - 2010-10-17

"the future is stupid" is an active tag that needs more love

NewHeavenSalesman - 2010-10-17

I'd vote for "Spaced," myself.

Old_Zircon - 2010-10-17

Power Glove

Riskbreaker - 2010-10-17

Dissapointment would imply that somebody is expecting something good out of this thing.

grep - 2010-10-18

How about a "mall technology" tag. This is so close to the piece of shit 3d machines that cost like 15 bucks to play.

craptacular - 2010-10-19

extreme paintbrawl

Charles - 2010-10-17

This looks stupidly frustrating.

Kumquatxop - 2010-10-17

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2010-10-17

I feel embarrassed for the rep running supervising the demo.

Doomstein - 2010-10-17

She's probably thinking "do I attack the guy with the camera, steal the film and then get fired or do I let this embarassing demo that I'm in charge of get on the internet and get fired?"

oddeye - 2010-10-17

This reminds me of those shitty lightguns that used to come out with every damn system.

Syd Midnight - 2010-10-18

I had a cool light gun once, it was for some 1970s pong-type console and it looked exactly like a huge cowboy revolver, with fake bluing and fake wooden handle and moving cockable hammer, a real suicide-by-cop number. I carried it around as a regular toy gun. The 70s had the best toy guns.

RocketBlender - 2010-10-17

I'll be honest with you guys. I love stuff like this. I don't just want kinect to fail, I want it to bomb so badly it almost destroys the 360. That way, any time some in video game development suggests annoying motion controls, someone on the team will speak up with "Woah, woah. Don't you remember that Microsoft thing? Kimple or whatever? That shit almost ruined them, were not going down that path!"

Riskbreaker - 2010-10-17

Seems microsoft ignored the memo with sony's eyetoy. That and the fact that something like the wii mote actually works.

Kumquatxop - 2010-10-17

Oh, hell fucking yes me too. From the very first Project Natal video to Molyneux masturbating over his prepubescent-boy-interaction simulator to now this, every single new whiff of Kinect news has filled me with such unspeakable schadenfreudy glee.

Oddly, the person who came to mind to describe my feelings best is Jeremy Clarkson, from ten years ago, on the BMW C1:

fluffy - 2010-10-17

The Move, on the other hand, is actually pretty fun. I haven't tried any FPSes on it yet but I expect it'll do pretty well (like the Wiimote + Nunchuk on Metroid Prime 3 et al), and in the meantime it's great for puzzle games like Tumble.

But yeah, this just proves that you NEED a controller of some sort. Motion-only control just isn't enough for any non-trivial game.

RocketBlender - 2010-10-17

It's "good" for mini games, and that's it. I actually kind of like move's sports champions, and think I'll pick up dead space 2 on the PS3 for similar reasons. But having a few buttons and a joystick helps a ton. I also like that I didn't have to buy a nunchuck, and can just use half of my ps3 remote with my left hand.

sosage - 2010-10-17

You mean, "Anyone remember the Wii?"

Or, "Anyone remember the power glove?"

Kinect will fade into the ocean of shitty motion control fads. What everyone will associate with this stupid ass shit is Nintendo.

oddeye - 2010-10-18

I'm pretty sure they will actually say "Remember the Wii and the shit load of money everyone made with zero effort mini-games?" whenever they think of motion control.

Riskbreaker - 2010-10-18

Here's the thing with the wii:

-It came at the right moment
-It came with a fair price
-Happens to have an actual control, that works

The kinect:

-Comes too late
-Too expensive
-Works with a console that keeps burning itself
-Has shitty rehashed games that the wii already has
-Doesn't work

TeenerTot - 2010-10-18

I still play my Wii. :/

Wander - 2010-10-18

The Wii is still selling better than PS3 or Xbox360, isn't it?

StanleyPain - 2010-10-17

Fuck this shit. I want to sit, relax, and play a game. Not wrestle with god damn motion controls and shit and basically go to work to play a video game.
Seriously, MS is trying to sell Kinect on bullshit like "oh man, waving your hand around is SOOO much easier a way to interact with the dashboard than clicking the d pad."

RocketBlender - 2010-10-18

Most of the people who like the idea usually mention how movies and the dashboard can be done more than the games. One guy I know is actually really excited about how Fable 3 will recognize if you're the same player as last time, and welcome you as such, and 'alter the game' if it notices other players are watching and enjoying the game with you. This is all Molyneux babble though, mind you.

Raggamuffin - 2010-10-18

Will it be able to recognize that I'm pushing 30 and advise me to leave the house and find a girlfriend?

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2010-10-17

bwahahahaaaa!! that sucks sooo much!! the kinect users look like they are writhing in discomfort!

zerobackup - 2010-10-17

:)

erratic - 2010-10-17

HEY GUYS, THERE'S A GAME THAT *REALLY* NEEDS A JOYSTICK AT 1:05, AMIRITE?

grep - 2010-10-18

:26 seconds in "I mean I warned you guys" followed by the guy getting frustrated, walking away and saying "I don't know, this is fucking retarded" All of my stars for that.

Hooker - 2010-10-18

While this looks like shit, I don't really have any strong opinions on the Kinect at all. If it can do something new and fun, hooray.
