It's a good thing they're acting like Christians and turning the other cheek instead of seeking punitive measur..... oh.

Toenails - 2010-10-25

I don't care how fundamental her views are. You do NOT call children "stupid little bigots". If that is in fact what happened.

That said, you do not allow children telling other children that they are going to hell for whatever reason. If that is in fact what happened.

5 stars for FOX News doing what they do best in not giving a viewer any idea of what actually happened.

Yeah, I only know that none of these people are good people.

That's why it makes me so warm inside.

Crackersmack - 2010-10-25

I dunno, the kid sounds like a stupid bigot to me.

The bus driver should have known better, but honestly someone should call these people what they are to their face. Even if they are children.

I am glad that the school district appears to be handling this correctly though.

Robin Kestrel - 2010-10-25

The dad, and his demands, seem very reasonable. What the bus driver did was totally inappropriate.

But the real stars are for the dad having to correct the anchor on the bus driver's gender. The awkward "that was a WOMAN?" pause.

memedumpster - 2010-10-25

Taking it out on their child is not an appropriate way to deal with stupid bigots.

memedumpster - 2010-10-25

Sorry, not meant as a reply. So yeah, I bet she was crushed when she found out she didn't have a gay school bus driver yelling at a Christian girl child story. Like four book deals just dissolved from her future.

takewithfood - 2010-10-25

I interpreted her reaction as "Woah, wait, the bust driver wasn't a faggot? Damn, that really takes the edge off this story."

Bort - 2010-10-26

Why do I get the feeling there's a whole side of this that hasn't been heard? Probably because there is.

Accounting for standard Fox News fact "drift", here's probably what happened: girl was either leading some other kids in taunting someone who wasn't Christian enough, or was shouting about Jesus like a loonie and scaring other kids. And the bits about the black student and the gay unions probably didn't happen at all. In other words, lost in the noise is the likelihood that someone else was being victimized and the driver was trying to keep that other kid from being victimized.

The school district hasn't fired the bus driver. Whom're you gonna trust: Fox News and a dad who gets worked up about gay unions, or a school district that you have virtually no information about? One of those sides has more than earned my mistrust, I know that much.

Bort - 2013-06-12

Years later, I've tried to follow up on this. I can't find anything about the lawsuit itself, which makes me think it has been quietly withdrawn.

But the other thing that has come up is that, apparently, the bus driver is a lesbian. That instantly puts this into the territory of a black bus driver "persecuting" a kid making with the racial slurs. Perhaps that's why the suit was withdrawn.

Riskbreaker - 2010-10-25

Man, jesus would be so proud.

Senator_Unger - 2010-10-26

Oh, look, it's exactly why we have parochial schools in this country. We'll let you ruin your children as much as you want as long as you agree not to contaminate the others in the school district.
